If you all dont know my situation, I moved from Jersey to Long island. A long distance relationship that worked...got married and Ive been here for 3 years now.

I get fits every once in a while about how I have no good friends and I miss Jersey. Crying fits.

So he suggested I go see a Psychiatrist. Just to talk to someone to get to the bottom of my problem.

The thing is I don't want to go back to Jersey. I'm a different person now and None of my friends changed. Still immature

What do you all this

Do I talk to someone. I made an appt with a therapist but Im afraid shes gonna say oh you need this med and this med. I dont want to numb my problem, I want to fix them.

Input would be helpful! Thanks all!

You don't have to go on meds. You need to find a better way of coping life so you won't get upset and cry. If this new therapist thinks you should go on meds, find another one that WON'T just throw a pack of pills at you to fix your problem. Talk therapy is the best!

Exactly. I want a talk therapist.

But i don't have these fits that often. Once in a while ill just get depressed.

The main reason why I wanna go is to get to the bottom of the reason I have to be in an altered state of mind always..pot, pills, xanax...always. That's

gotta be a problem right

Yup. Once you deal with the issues that are affecting you, you then can stop self medicating and learn how to live life without relying on that stuff to make you feel better.

You can do this! Don't let 'talk therapy' freak you out either. When I first started seeing my T, I had issues from the past, which I know I buried deep..(That's why I had anxiety attacks and stuff) It hurt and it was hard to open up and talk, but once I got going, there was no stopping me! Therapy is this - What you put into it, is what you get out of it.
