Boss now wants me back

Recommended Posts

Ok if you didnt read my other post I just got off the phone with my manager. We spoke for about half an hr and he asked me what exactly went wrong and why I left. I explained everything to him, told him how I felt and he told me that there was alot of miscommunication and all the tasks that my co workers had given me were in no shape or form supposed to be my responsibilty and were only going to be given to me after months of training or during my down time. My main role was going to be to see what I was good at and then make those my primary roles. He also apologized for not being there during the past few days and that I should have started this monday. He wants me to reconsider coming back bc he said everyone really likes me and he thinks I can do well in the position and call him Monday and let him know my answer. What to do..I mean this job does pay good money, great benefits but I just feel really akward if I did go back and dont want my other co workers to now dislike me bc of it...What do u guys think?

Hope you learnt that "as an adult" you face up to problems. Not hide behind a phone (/ text or email). Of course they're shocked - people don't usually run home and resign over the phone and just "blame" the other party.

All the best :)

This sounds like a job that a lot of people would love to have - lots and lots of growth opportunity that's limited only by abilities/interests.

You really don't want opportunity to learn and grow, though. You want a clerical job that's not challenging so that you can focus on your studies. Fair enough - let someone else have it, someone who wants to start a career.

I have to honest with you.. your boss is nuts for wanting you back..

You are a high maintenance employee.. you have just shown him the tip of the iceberg to what he is going to have to deal with when it comes to you..

not even 1 week at work and you have already created all this unnecessary drama.

2 things..

number one... I originally posted that you should stick it out till your boss sets your job duties.

number 2.. your parents also suggested that you wait it out.

as an employer myself I make it a policy to never rehire someone that quits.. it shows me that they have no desire to part of the team that is required to operate a company.

I also am fairly busy running my company and would rather spend my time with people that can enhance the work atmosphere not detract from it

I am glad that you are reconsidering this job and they are willing to listen to you..

If you go back.. go back with a new attitude.. an attitude that shows that you are a team player and not someone only concerned about themselves..

Good luck :).. also if you do go back don't worry about the other people there and what they might think of this..they will forget all about in short order and you will be busy learning your job duties..

well there was miscommunication on both parts..which would not have never happened if my boss was there from day one. He apologized througly for this and described all my job duties for me..all of which are going to be given to me only during my down time and not bobmarded on me like they were. He aslo said that his major mistake was not changing my start date to monday. I know ure saying u wouldn't rehire someone like me but to have another coworker tell me that my manager called her asking her if I had come in bc he was afraid i wasnt gonna come back i guess he even knew that its a normal reaction for someone to panick or feel overwhelmed in this situatuion. I guess he must really like me though bc this company..well if i told u the name u would know it right away..has probably 1000 other resumes they could be looking at right now. I spoke to a family friend about it who works with investment bankers and he told me that these places dont do this and im a real idiot to pass this opportunity up and its partly my mangers fault for how things went down. Anyway I just dont wanna go back and have my other coworkers be mad at me or feel like I got this special treatment or something..i dunno.

i read both of you're posts and this is mostly your managers fault. He must have known how you were thrown in there so to speak was wrong otherwise why would he have made the comment to your coworker about him being afraid that you left. Obviously he likes you and I'm sure he got positive feedback about you from the others that were there otherwise he would not be asking you to come back. My cousin left a job then he went and asked for it back months later. Go get em!!
