Hi, I just starting a topic because one of my close friends seems to suffering from depression and maybe even more problems. All I can do is comfort but i don't know if its making a difference. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this type of situation?

I don't know the situation or his/her situation completely, but I'd say a good thing to do is treat him/her like somebody who is a fellow human and less like somebody who needs help. Sometimes that's a good way to raise confidence and a sense of acceptance. Sometimes people just need to feel good enough. Unless he/she really needs serious help, then please advise.

All you can do is a be a supportive friend, it's up to your friend to decide to get help. You can encourage your friend, even help him/her make an appointment with the Dr, or help find a therapist...

Google "healingwell" that site should help your friend.
