Increasing troops?

Recommended Posts

I just saw the tv, someone is trying to conscript more troops. and they are using God's name. I think how low and shame they are, trying to fool people. Before decide to do something for God, please think twice, God want us to love each other. I feel sad about those soldiers.

What do you think?

I feel sad about those soldiers too. Our military adventure in Iraq is going to hurt this country for decades and decades to come. :(

I believe Lord want somebody seeing this message to change their minds...

The thing I don't understand is conformity, social conformity. People think they have own ideas and opinions, but usually some people are too lazy to think for themselves, and tend to listen what "important person" or "smart person" or "religious leader" say or what neighbors do. This is DANGROUS. So it is important to have PERSONAL relationship with God, my old topic:p . actually I was scared by the scene I saw, reminded me Hilter...maybe I went too far

If you were a true Christian you would know that you should kill for your god.

"Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee, will speak, saying, Because the Lord was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness" (Num 14:15,16)

many wars are fought in the name of God – look at our own Civil War in the 1860s … men on both sides of the battle were convinced that the good Lord was on their side of the fight and invoked his blessing for their causes!

we as Americans want to share the bounty we enjoy – freedom, education, competitive business industry – but forget that we are a very odd bird compared to other countries, which have a longer history of going about doing things. Throw in the strong sense of Christianity this country has, and you put a moral aspect of going to war, and "doing right" on behalf of others.

my personal thought is that the war on Iraq was a "kill the rattlesnake" tactic that had deeper ramifications than we counted on. By doing "the right thing" in getting rid of terrorists, we've embroiled ourselves in a civil war in a country we have absolutely nothing in common with.

I don't want to see anymore soldiers sent into battle – I've got one nephew over there already, and another one who graduates boot camp this weekend, so it's become a very personal event now – but I also realize that those kids going over there are professional warriors. That this is their job, to go in and execute military manuevers wherever they're asked to go. My prayer is that good, loving boys that they are, my nephews remember to model that message of God's love as they do their jobs and help convert hearts that want peace in the Middle East.

Seems we only can pray for them, hope peace come soon. Seems things are bigger than we can comprehend. but I got angered when I see people use God's name to do things. I don't feel God has anything to with the conscription though. they are so lowwwwww and shammmmmmmmmmm to do so. Okay, maybe I should go to a peaceful island :p

I am a true Christian, and God taught me "love your enemy", and this is confirmed by Holy Spirit. where do you come from?

The Bible is like a mirror. when a meek sheep read it, the Bible reflect out the Love of God. When a rebellion goat and wrong doer read it, the Bible reflect out the anger of God. so? what did you see?:p

Wow sounds pretty inconsistent. God can't seem to make up his mind, love your enemy, kill your enemy which one is it?

Yes, it is consistent. The problem here is you THINK you are more merciful than God. It called self-rightiousness. Do you know what those people did to other people? Were you there 7/24 with them? God did. God knows everything, know every man's heart. Did you forgive and love someone who offened you in the past? God did, countless times. Did you feel compassion when you meet needy people? Did you help orphans and single mothers? Are you pride?

You seem only see anger of God from Bible:p

Just another example of utter hypocrisy on the hands of the religious. I mean, there is the commandment "thou shall not kill" and yet people kill in the name of religion all the time, and the strongest supporters of war are usually the most religious.

I don't feel sorry for those soldiers at all, they are volunteers they knew perfectly well what they were getting into and many enjoy killing, torturing, raping - which is why I am glad when I hear about american soldiers being killed.

How do you know anything about American soldiers? Have you met many of them or even one? How do you know that they knew what they were "getting into" and how can you say that "many enjoy killing, torturing, raping"?

Is it me or is it sick for anyone to to say that they are glad when they hear about anyone else being killed?

Well I know it is a volunteer army, that means they willingly sign up to it knowing they can be deployed to fight useless wars. Nobody is recruiting them by force.

As for the second part, from the things that transpired in Iraq, which leads me to believe there are many others we'll never know. Also it is known the nature of soldiers at war is to burn and plunder...

Nobody is recruiting them by force.

This may be true CP3R but most of the enlisted men are in the service cause they have few other choices. They are young with no college education and they need some type of framework/organization for their life. Many join to get away from small towns or weird families or to get off drugs/alcohol. Many of them are the underpriviledged of society. And they are the ones who do most of the dying.

Now if you're going into the military as a career officer with the appropriate education (Westpointe, ROTC, etc...) then you'll probably do OK.

Yes LB, god does want us to love eachother and god accepts people reguardless of faith practices...

I also think that when we hear something we are to quick to see it oour way and not understand what a person meant

But also this is my point that religion can bring people together but alos it can tear people apart....

People have used God as a reason/justification for wars and killing and persecution since the beginning of time. That's one of the reasons organized religion has turned many people away from spirituality.

God is the perfect person to justify war....he can't be seen, deposed, prosecuted or executed.

How can "love each other, even love your enemy, forgive those who offend you" tear people part?

I know this thread probably will trigue some EXCUSES, but still I put it out here because I hope someone will change their mind. You even did not read Bible, how can you judge it so quickly?

You should not take this personally, All I am saying religion tears people apart just as much as it brings people together.

I am not making any excuses for anyone or anything.

Wait so now I have to read the bible, I do not believe everything I read, and you shouldn't either.

I believe in god so let's not go there, Don't use me to prove a point

NO, you don't know God, and certainly we are not big enough to judge Him and His purpose. But I can say this, if you understand a little glance of God's Love, you would rejoy for a very long time, I wonder what would you say

Listen LP I will never let the bible saturate my brain, I know that there is evil in this world and I do not need a book to tell me that.

If you want to help out people in need I suggest that you go to a homeless shelter and voulenteer your time, or maybe even volenteer at a animal shelter, that is rewarding in itself, helping real people real time, I do not need a book to tell me to do that so I am not judging anyone.

You can even support the troops by volenteering for disabled injured troops, you may not belive in the war but you can still support

LP everyone has a different view of God and what he is or isn't

You can't tell someone they don't know god
