Rewind
So my last job out of college was pure hell, emotionally draining and worse then a high school cafeteria. My new job is in a very corpoarate env't, work discussed all day and cubicle city..u get the picture. I've just finished my 2nd week. I got hired as an admin...something to keep me afloat while I finish grad school which my boss and coworkers know about. So my job is to support the vp, director and 2 other groups of people..theres about 6 in each group. They all sit by one another, are around my age, most have mbas and such and all seem really smart and good in what they do. I sit all the way on the other side of the office right in front of my bosses office by noone. There are other guys on my sides..mostly financial advisors and such..so it is pretty imitading considering most are pacing back and forth talking about stuff that I have no clue about lol. All the guys don't acknowldge me either but also they're in a different divisions and it seems like people in diff divisions really don't talk to one another..wierd I know. So my boss and the hire ups have all been really nice to me. I was out my first week a few days bc of some issues that arose and wasn't sure if I would be returning but decided to. Now there's another admin who has only been there 6 months but before me she supported these 2 groups and she is very friendly with all of them, expecially some of the guys, they take lunch together. One of the guys invited me my first week and I went out with them 2x but since then I've just brought my lunch. When he invited be he seemd really shy about it too..like it was a big thing to ask me lol. I'm an attractive girl so ill see these guys stare at me in the office but besides that they all seem really quiet around me and if I see them say in the kitchen or watever I'll be the one to initate a convo..not them. Since I'm new and not done training Ive been focused on learning. But also would it hurt any of them to try to get to know me. Most of the people seem really dedicated to their work..kinda on the geeky side though..and well excpet for the other admin no one has really gone out of their way to train me or include me in things except for her and my bosses. I just wish I felt more at home I guess.
