Should I become a single father?

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure where to post this question!

So here is the deal. I want to be a dad. And I'm worried I'm getting to close to being too old to finding the right woman and having children with her. I have been in long term relationships and for whatever reason haven't made it .. all the way.

Now I'm thinking - do I give up on the dream of having a family if I can't find the right woman? I want to watch my children play sports and do homework and go to college.. I want to see them marry and be happy and bring me grand kids! I want the big family Christmas thing - that's the dream I have - sooo do I let that go if I can't find the right woman now?

So maybe I should adopt. And make a go of it on my own. What do you think? Crazy?

No I don't think it's crazy.

Are you very old?

I don't think you should give up either. Have you tried meeting a woman through church? BTW, if you do want to give up there is nothing wrong with being a single dad.

look into foster parenting – from what I understand, it's pretty easy for a foster parent to adopt one of their charges. Unless you're wanting a brand-spanking new baby of a certain background.

also consider volunteering with a Big Brother-Big Sister organization. It's not exactly getting a kid of your own, but you'll gain alot of insight from your relationship with a young one that you mentor.

meanwhile, don't give up on your dream of finding a mate you can build a marriage and a family with.
