sb129
Yes I am, and thank you.But what you're saying here, or what you want others to believe is simply not true. These, "contradictions", that you speak of come from people who read the scriptures out of it's CONTEXT. They don't consider the time, genre, or situation when reading or diciphering it. This is where more people need to study history and understand why it was written, who it was written for, and the situation surrounding the events. But again, you're set on what you're going to believe, and that's that. I have to live with it, and so I will. I do have a problem when you INSIST on it as fact, and not an opinion.Maybe you should reconsider what you think God's, "rules" are. They aren't far from what you said earlier that would make you happy. Love from others, including the, "heathens"......it's really not ALL fire and brimestone....It didn't really offend me because I'm used to hearing it, but the, "Book of Mormon" and the Bible are two entirely different entities and should NEVER be grouped in the same catagory.... I sincerely hope that you can accept my apology if I ticked you off a bit. I just don't feel like I should hide any aspect of my faith and belief from anyone no matter how they take it....but it is my duty to defend it.....take her easy! Sigh. Apology accepted. Out of context or not, the Bible just isn't a great basis for a faith if its that difficult to understand! But we have reached a truce, so I won't upset that. look, I don't have a need to have a higher being or faith in my life. I am happy and have all the love i need right now. i KNOW what "gods rules" are- I live by alot of "gods" rules, because they make sense to live as a good person (ie don't kill, be good to your neighbour, love eachother, don't be greedy, proud, selfish etc etc) I just don't believe in god. So we have a few things in common Moose... I am still a good person. And a very happy, contented one at that. Defend away, I don't want to convert you, just perhaps open your eyes to other trains of thought, and the possibility that you can live as a good happy person without god in your life. So I guess you aren't a mormon then. At least we agree on something! But isn't it frustrating that all these believers are arguing about whose book is RIGHT? Thats the problem I have with religion. All the arguing.
Author Rooster_DAR
To me the whole thing is black and white, not matter how semantic you get. I believe Occam's Razor or "Principle of Parsimony" applies here, the simplest explanation is usually the best or correct explanation. Given all the evidence to support evolution and the lack of evidence support a divine creator, I believe that mankind will eventually deduce that there is no God such as most of us have been brought up to believe. Yes, there still could be a creator of everything, but I am sure that it's the one that's pulled the wool over everyones eyes. I cannot absolutely prove to you that there is not god, I would have to present him to you physically to do that, but he doesn't seem to want to participate in this trial and continues to play hide and seek. I can tell you the bible of many religions contains many contradictions, and some downright ludicrous ideas that just don't make sense in a predictable universe (physics). It seems religion keeps trying to come up with some reasoning to one-up science, so we here one excuse after another as to why god does exists. On another note, if the god you say does exists, I'm not sure I would want to worship him/her. After all, what kind of god would play games with his creation and state that "who shalt so not believeth in me shall perish" then turn around and leave us confused because he has not show his face. This seems like something an immature child would do. Regards,
Topper
I often wonder at what point in the History of Human evolution did they start having of a consciousness of who they were. I suppose that what I am really thinking about is just when did they start thinking about invisible forces that they could prey to to help control their world? At some point in human history those early people came up with a system that they thought would help them have a favorable outcome for a hunt or the gathering of crops to eat. creating goods and spirits and ceremonies to appease and celebrate those gods is a very complex thought processor. At some point they stopped just being frightened by thunder storms and thought they could do something to ease that fear and maybe make that storm go away. To me this isa major stepping stone in human history.
