Emotional abuse & Jesus

Recommended Posts

Brothers and Sisters, these days I was thinking about the emotional abuse, as you know, we all have that experiences as long as we tell the good news. Then the movie The passion of The Christ came to my mind again and again. I wonder how our Lord Jesus could do that. You know, He was hated, belittled, beaten beyond human recognition and pierced on the cross; at last, He forgave them! I kept asking “Lord, how could you do that?” Then the Scripture came to me.

Rom 8:6(1)To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace

Human being consists of three parts:

1.Physical body (flesh) – feeling is in this realm

Physical desires, hatred, unforgiveness, strife, jealous, merciless, unkind, merciless, slanderers, violent, and fierce selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited

2.Mind (soul) - rational reason

Reasoning

3. Spirit - conscience (come from God)

Love, endurance, patience, gentle, forgiveness, meek…

When people is mainly led by ①physical body, this will lead to death, spiritual death. Maybe that’s why Bible has strict rules about sex activities. Because a person give self too much into the sex impurity, the person is mainly led by flesh. Our feelings also belong to this realm. So our feelings really are flaky, even cheat. For example, in a marriage, when the couple doesn’t have love feeling toward each other, some of them would give up quickly. But if they seek more spiritual connection, they will find that love feeling back again.

When a person is mainly led by ②mind (reason), this would prevent the person from finding his higher purpose. According my personal experience these people are stiff, less flexible, easily be irritated by others, anger, no fun, less enthusiasm

SO, we got a conclusion that we should be led by ③Spirit. Here Bible says “turn another cheek”. I always don’t understand this verse. But thank Lord, yesterday night I got this. When someone did harm to us or hate us, if we hate them back or attack them back, then we fall back to ①our flesh which lead to spiritual death. And the latter paragraph is GOOD. At least made me felt peace. Other people’s harm and insult don’t affect our destiny, and who we are! We are defined by God, and the insult and harm is that Satan try to attack our ego which belongs to ①flesh, and Satan could not touch our spirit! Do you see? That’s why Jesus wants us to focus our eyes on HIM, Spiritual realm. Talk about “walk on water”!!! Haha, Satan could not touch our spirit! He only can attack our flesh which is temporary and would be rotten. But our spirit belongs to Lord

Rom 8:35(1)Who, then, can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death?

Rom 8:36(1)As the scripture says, "For your sake we are in danger of death at all times; we are treated like sheep that are going to be slaughtered."

Rom 8:381)For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future,

I remember reading somewhere about forgiving and forgetting – that we are asked to forgive the people who hurt us, and "forget" our anger toward them, even as we hold ourselves apart from them as we try to protect ourselves. I struggle with that one, but I think it means that first and foremost, we should be forgiving as He is forgiving, and to love as He loves.

concerning emotional abuse, I think it's more important for one to forgive themselves those so-called "shortcomings" an abuser has convinced that person of, and to love oneself warts and all ... that the abused has some good about him or herself, and isn't worthless the way an abuser says he/she is. Once a person gets to that point, it may be a bit easier to forgive that other person for hurting him/her, even as the abused escapes the situation.

I think that emotional abuse has an effect on one's mind, you can be emotionally abused and show no physical signs of it.

Being nurtured as a child is an important part of development, you can reject, ignore, issolate, or terrorize.

Having a positive influence in whole determines ones future outcome, but I believe that people who choose to believe different religions and or Scientific theory can still have a shining spirit.

One also needs thier body mind and spirit to survive and all three should be nurtured.

EOS... (end of story), but I know I will not have the last word:bunny:

If people define themselves by outside elements--ego (people's comments, money, power, lover, appearance...), then our ego are easily bruised. But if we define ourselves as God's obediance children, God loves us, those outside elements has mini influence to us.

Which one lead which is important though. Flesh lead to death, Spirit lead to live. Flesh lead like a blind man lead blind. But Spirit lead like a light, wherever you go is all right as long as you follow the spirit.

Oh is that what I said?????

I don't think so.

Not everyone can be Jesus Christ, and my thinking is more open then yours when it comes to the reality of what is real and what is not real.

A message to brothers and sisters who do Lord's work

Please don't rely on your own cleverness, but rely on Lord only cause Lord will tell you what you should say. Be relaxed, and Holy Spirit will speak through you.

Please don't rely on the knowledge of this world, but rely on the knowledge that come from the Lord. How can "the knowledge of this world" beat "the knowledge of this world?" but "the knowledge that come from the Lord" win "the knowledge of this world" already.

Please don't rely on your own strength, we are just vessels, lay your burden to Lord, His yoke is light. We speak whenever Holy Spirit want to speak, we are silent whenever Holy Spirit has nothing to say.

Trust and faith in Lord totally. Love you. Have a good day :)
