Woggle Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I really don't get it. It seems that with some people if things are going well they need to start some drama and mess things up. I am happy for the first time in my life to be free of drama and actually feel content. I have had enough drama in my life but some people are addicted to it. Why do some people fall into this pattern over and over again?

I am happy for the first time in my life to be free of drama and actually feel content. I have had enough drama in my life but some people are addicted to it. Why do some people fall into this pattern over and over again? I'm with you. I love this drama free life but some people crave it because they consider their lives dull and boring. I think that some don't even realize that they need it or like it. It just sort of goes with their lifestyle, if that makes sense.
Trialbyfire Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I must admit I do enjoy drama but not the freaky, fixation kind...
Pyro Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I must admit I do enjoy drama but not the freaky, fixation kind... But why? Judging by your posts, you seem to live a pretty eventful life away from the drama.

Maybe some of these need to deal with some real drama and then they will appreciate a content life.
Trialbyfire Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 But why? Judging by your posts, you seem to live a pretty eventful life away from the drama. I like to make things lively and stir the pot. For example if I'm with friends who I know very well and we're sitting around having dinner, I'll throw out a topic that I know will stir them up and get a good rousing current events or political discussion going. Then, I'll sometimes take the opposite side to what I believe to get it going even more because you can't have a debate without an antagonist. Would you consider this drama?
Pyro Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Maybe some of these need to deal with some real drama and then they will appreciate a content life. Never thought of that...... I don't know though. Some I know have been living with it for years now and show no signs of slowing down. I have distanced myself from them.

As long as it doesn't get out of hand, meaning name calling or worse, then it is not drama, IMO.
Trialbyfire Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 As long as it doesn't get out of hand, meaning name calling or worse, then it is not drama, IMO. Nope. It never gets to that point. We all usually laugh about it afterwards and carry on with another topic. That's what I like. People who can shrug off a difference of opinion instead of people who nurse grievances.

I notice sometimes that people living exterme poverty actually seem quite happy and I think it is because every day that they make it to see the next one is a blessing. My wife has been to 3rd world countries and she says that the children there jumo for joy if you offer than a piece of candy while in this country you have people who have everything and are miserable. I come from a poor background with a alot of drama and I am so glad to be out of that that content and peaceful feels great to me.

What do you consider to be a definition of drama?

amaysngrace Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I don't know why people crave drama. I'm thinking they had bad childhoods or something where drama in life just feels "right" to them. Anything less than drama doesn't feel comfortable. Either that or maybe they are attention seekers??

bridget_jones Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 What Trialbyfire has said makes a lot of sense. After reading many of her posts, a lot of it doesn't seem like realistic or sincere advice, it is a lot of 'devil's advocate' type stuff placing the blame back to the poster on what they coulda/woulda/shoulda done and most people disagree with it.
amaysngrace Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Everyone likes attention and for some I think that is the only way that they know how to get it. Possibly they don't get enough positive attention so they go for negative attention? Or maybe to them drama makes them feel alive in a way? I have no idea. I lived a drama marriage and all I wanted was out. To me drama = chaos
Author Woggle Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 I don't consider it drama to be living in poverty. What do you consider to be a definition of drama? Many people living in poverty live in an enviroment full of drama. I know some immigrants from Croatia and those other nations and they are thankful for the fact that bombs are not exploding around them.

But sometimes it is possible to go through drama and have the end results be a positive life change, so some drama can actually be positive.

I know some immigrants from Croatia and those other nations and they are thankful for the fact that bombs are not exploding around them. I can agree with that kind of drama, but I think that drama has varying degrees. Some is more extreme then other drama. Maybe you missed my question, but how do you define drama?

Pyro Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Come on Woggle, don't keep us in suspense any longer.
amaysngrace Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 But sometimes it is possible to go through drama and have the end results be a positive life change, so some drama can actually be positive. Yeah it's kind of like thinking "I'm not sure what I want but I know what I don't want" type thinking. I think drama is people's perspectives too. It's how we handle certain situations that make it either eventful to us or not. It's easy to get a rise out of some people where others simply don't care. I think drama in that way is a choice.
