Anyone been diagnosed with ADD?

Recommended Posts

Anyone here been diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)? Sorry...only ADD, not ADHD, because the two are very different from each other.

If so, I would like to hear how you have mastered this disorder.

What/who prompted you to go to the doctor? Friends? family?

What measures did you take to improve your quality of life?

Are you currently taking meds or can you manage without it?

If you are taking meds, do you think you will ever be able to get off them, and still function?

Thanks in advance!

Might forget to say something later!

I have not been diagnosed with anything, but I am seriously thinking these days that I need to be medicated.

I'm not sure whether to take my spaciness or my mood swings as the primary symptom.

And this is not advisable for anyone to do, especially minors, but I actually took a 12 hour decongestant today, (psudeophedrine) because I know it makes me more focused and less emotional. I just did not want to spend the day crying and getting nothing done.

Sorry Luv that this isn't spot on topic, but I thought you might at least have some advice for me.

Well, thanks. There are more appropriate forums for this topic. I am just too hooked on LS to look elsewhere. ;)

Lol, I wasn't saying you are off topic. I'm saying my response was. Since I haven't been diagnosed.

I was diagnosed as bi-polar about 5 years ago. I don't take any meds for it though at the time of diagnosis I tried some. I determined that if I indeed am bi-polar, it's very mild. Sometimes my mood does seem to change to the extreme, but it's not really noticeable much. I was given Welbutrin which is a common drug for this condition.

Besides, if I am bi-polar I didn't want medication to balance my upswings, that's would take away my creativity.

I can relate with that. My creativity has...well, I don't know how to say it. I'm not as ditsy and humorous as I used to be. But, that's ok. I would rather be focused and studious, then unfocused and distracted.

I'd make a pretty sexy librarian with this medication.
