Anti-depression & Jesus

Recommended Posts

Although Seasonal Affective Disorder has been studied for over 20 years, it is still somewhat of an enigma. Researchers still don’t know why some people have Seasonal Affective Disorder and others don’t when it gets dark. What we do know is that winter darkness affects us all. We all gain weight in the winter, we eat more, exercise less, are less productive, and we sleep more. Still, some people can shake it off, others are mildly affected, and some become deeply depressed.

There are also other things besides prayer that can help with depression.

Some people do not believe in God, what then

People find peace in other ways.

Mind altering drugs or Mood altering drugs vs. prayer.

One can have a strong belief system in God but they still can be depressed and waste thier whole life with worry and it can kill them, no ammount of praying will help if they themselves do not want to get better, it has to come from within.

Peace of heart and mind people live thier whole lives without this in thier lives.

I think that putting someone down because they choose to utilize a resouce such as an anti depressent instead of looking to the church is just playing god yourself.

Preaching to what you do not understand is a dangerous thing to do.

I do not disagree that prayer can be of assistance to ones heart mind and souls. It may make you happy for the time that you are doing it and it may be sustained for long periods of time, however if this thread is looking down upon someone because they need to take a drug to remain consistant with thier moods then they should not be looked down upon in the process, what that person needs is support and encouragement not some holier than though brother and sister attutitide.

Acceptance and reassurance from that persons support system is what is needed.

Again I myself would choose alternative medicine.

One would have to admit that sometimes church is all about

Pray Pay and Obey.

and LB are you going to tell those children who were molested by priests and grow up to be adults with depression because of what happened to them when they were younger, are you going to tell them to go back to church and pray..

and don't try to make excuses either because they went through the process to become a preist but went against what was the right thing to do... molested innocent children all for thier own pleasure, oh and because they believe they will be saved... nope I don't belive that for one minute...

Doesn't the Christian church do a personality assement test on their prospective priests or a background check?

It would be so said to think that if there was a young boy who grew up on a strict Christian home and was molested by a preist but could not go to his parents because they are so so so into the church and god and trusting a stranger over their own flesh and blood that the child commits suicide because he feels has though he has no where to turn that would be a tragedy.

That boy would not want to go to church and pray and should not be forced to do so.

People should keep their eyes wide open and not put all their faith and trust in something that has proven to be untrustworthy.

"Forgive them Lord, they know not what they do"

LOL pricillia - Good Show... It seems that some people just don't think the Holy Spirit can do the work all by himself and therefore has appointed little Jr. Holy Spirits to convict us for him... Nice in theory but if he really is all powerful, then he doesn't need their help in the first place eh?

But then again these are the same people who call themselves martyrs for Jesus while nailing themselves to the cross... (can you hand me that hammer please?)

My deepest depression was while I was still actively involved in the church, when I left the church praise Jesus I was healed! Go figure...

If someone needs help let them seek it out in whatever form finally works for them...

I hope you're not suggesting that someone who is clinically depressed need only praise Jesus to be healed.

I have experienced bouts of clinical depression in which no amount of scripture reading, prayer, or praise could shake it. It was primarily a physical problem, my friend, not a spiritual one.

Christians who discourage the appropriate medical treatment of depression for their brothers and sisters who experience it do them an incredible disservice. It sets them up to believe their depression is their fault and/or that their faith isn't strong enough to overcome it.

Can you blame a person use his faith cured his uncurable disease because he has faith as big as a mustard seed, AND you don't have?

Can a person who have little faith blame a person who has faith as big as a mustard seed?

I don't discourage any medical cure. If you don't have that kind of faith as big as a mustard seed, do take medicine cure. It is between God and you.

Remember "move mountain and walk on water"? Not that these words are not true. but that people don't have that little faith as big as a mustard seed. If faith can make you move mountain, faith sure can remove depression. Many people did it, why others cannot? check self rather than doubt on verses.

I know you would bring up this kind of thing again and again although I answered them again and again. So I saved it on my computer, so now I just paste my previous post here. Read, carefully, don't miss.

when human being is led by flesh they could do many bad things.

The work of flesh:Galatians

5:19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions,

5:21 envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!

The work of Spirit:Galatians

5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

5:23 gentleness, and self-control.

Now you can see what spirit produce, and what flesh produce.

So, NOW if a person read Bible, and claim he is a believer, but he didn't embrace the spiritual teaching, and he continue his evil ways, ACCORDING TO YOUR LOGIC, it is the Bible wrong!?!?!? Your logic cannot stand

People need to choose what is good for them... having faith in Church or Religion is fine.

and as far a discouraging someone from a medical cure over praying is wrong. You are not a doctor.

preists are not doctors although some have liked to play "doctor" and were found out and some are still doing it tjat is so sad to say the least

Why not focus on that subject and how you can help stop what they are doing instead of damming someone because they choose to take a prescribed drug to help them through a difficult time.

I would never trust my child to be alone with a priest... never.

Let me ask you LB do you personally know the people who wrote the Bible, did you interact with them every day and observe them and their dealings with other people how do you know what they did, how do you know how noble they were or were not.

You don't and you never will.

The issues and the corruption in the Church today is real and it is not going away.

Alot of what is going on has to do with money money money, and covering up wrong doings seems to be normal practice.

also I think that in the Church there is a standard that can not be upheld, this thread is just making people who choose an additional way to feel guilty which could possibly have a snow ball effect into a deeper depression, I say why not stop the cycle now!

People need to be allowed to feel pain and work through it, if they find comfort in knowing that a prescribed anti depressant will help then they should listen to thier doctor who went to school.

Personally I prefer alternative medicine and would not decide to go on an AD drug, but that is just me.

If you pray... fine but reguradless one still needs to eat properly to enhance thier mood

http://www.weight.com/Eating_Disorders/eating.html

I think I am going to eat a piece of chocolate

Yes, according to your advise, people should go for pills rather than God, so they become addictive to pills, some of them go for drugs, or impurity sexual behavious, or addictive to chocolate

Why this thread made you more depressed? because you know that you cannot stay in line with those words? But those living laws were written in your heart, whenever you against it, you would feel the depression. so the best way is to find out these living laws and stay in line with them

Sprit and Flesh...

You can hurt one's spirit with just more then Flesh. There is also mind control and igonoring human kindness and compassion... I do not need the bible to teach me that, I do not need that to show love.

One nees to have a strong mind as well and a strong spirit.

There are priests still following the lord, going through the motions and if they were fullfilled enough from the holy spirit then they would not be so inclined to step over the line by molesting young boys.

One can also go to Church everyday and pray everyday but not practice it but think that just because they go to Church and pray that they can treat people however they want to.

Don't try to stir up strife here. I don't look down anybody for that reason. But truth is to set people free. If you don't have enough faith, then ask God's help for increasing. every believer face it, come on.

Preaching to what you do not understand is a dangerous thing to do.

It is more dangerous that somebody who don't know what God says try to prevent others to tell the truth

No, your depression come from your perspective!!!! I saw many of your posts. You put too much focus on negative points, and you rely on other people for your happiness too much. You are sucking the energy out from the people around you. you said you believe in God, but why don't you receive the energy and love God rather that other people who cannot give you the unconditional love?

If she said that she believes in God you are not one to question her belief...

Her degree may not be to your degree so don't push and prod.

Someone can be charming but still be your enemy.

People can question God and that is ok.

Depression is a serious thing...

Stop making people feel guilty.

Being human is full of ups and down, if you believe in God and the church or not.
