Meeting girls and new friends

I'm 22 years old and just recently graduated college and returned home. I have only had 1 relationship in my life that was over 5 years long. A few months ago I ended up getting hurt very badly by this girl so thats over now. I am a very nice but very shy guy. My problem is that I went away to college so I have litterally zero friends here. While in college I had very few friends and they were all guys. In my whole life I have never had any friends who were girls. I have never gone to parties or had a great group of girl and guy friends to hang out with. My problem is that I am too shy and nervous to approach women. I have met 2 girls online, but I find that I cannot be myself and open up to them in person. I just cant think of what to say at all and I end up acting real quiet. I will be leaving in 1 week for job training in the southwest US that will last 10 weeks and it will truely be a new beggining for me. I am so tired of being alone and just staying inside my parents house all day. What I really want more than anything in life is a girl who loves and cares about me. I would also like friends to be there for me and support me. I need advice on how a shy guy like me can meet freinds and girls. Where can I go? What are ways I can approach people? I am a pretty good looking guy, but I can tell that my shy personality makes me seem like a dud to most, esspecially girls. Granted I'm very fun and open once I get to know people. I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone might have. I dont want to blow this opportunity to meet new people and make a life for myself, becuase in my mind I havent had a life for the last 22 years. I blew my chances in high school and college.
