Why would I want to go to heaven?

Recommended Posts

Storyrider,

I have had many Catholic acquaintances that never heard of soul salvation they think it’s a ritual concocted by organized religion.

When its actually scriptural and is the purpose Jesus appeared before men; to die on the Cross.

John 3:15

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he SAVED us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

We only need to ask.

Jesus died He did His part.

Now its up to us to ask Him into our heart.

Heaven is for us. We were made for Heaven.

The cost was paid for us at the cross.

If we can earnestly believe in Jesus [mind and heart together] then we ask. And we are saved.

Only just Ask ....and Heaven is our eternal Home.

Well, I'm a Jew married to a Catholic. My beliefs are a hodge-podge.

I don't understand the meaning and context of your bible quotes when you list them in a long string like that. It isn't a very convincing rhetorical device. It is tiresome to the eye, boring to read, and meaningless without any interpretation linking them together.

My husband believes in soul salvation, but that only God can truly know whose soul is saved. I believe that is standard Catholic teaching.

On the days I do, I think heaven simply means being close to God forever, and hell means being separated from Him. So, you aren't kept out of heaven. It is just that when you die, He shows Himself to you. If you feel drawn to him, you say yes and he lets you in. If you feel repulsed, you say no and you get to be separated from Him.

very well put – hell is simply being separated from God. But, man being man and needing to understand just what this means, identifies separation in terms of fire and brimstone, or horrible pain and hurt, because he can identify with those things.

that's prolly because Catholics and Protestants, while both Christian, don't speak the same language. We understand and accept salvation as something we received when we were baptised as babies. It's our birthright and it gets built upon through the sacraments – especially the Eucharist – that we receive throughout our lifetime. That's why it's hard to relate to a Protestant "professions of faith" ... we've lived our whole lives as a profession of faith, it's not one singular defined moment, like an altar call. I've heard people say Catholicism is a way of life, which is prolly the best way I can describe it.

I agree only God can know for certain as we may wonder?

We may wonder of one that we knew was not believer;

who knows on their deathbed could have claimed salvation.

But I disagree with this message in the respect that the saved do not know that they are.

Either you are or you are not. I am and I know I am.

If someone that is saved says; I think I am… but I am not certain.

Then I don’t think they are.

I would assume then it was a mental assent to the Lord.

We should know. How could a saved person miss the infiltration of the Holy Spirit?

That’s sounds rather impossible; therefore I would encourage them to rededicate themselves in the Lord.

When the mind and the heart are in a agreement … no doubts only Faith.

Your there. And it doesn’t take much faith. Scripture talks of faith the grain of a mustard seed to show how little faith we require. I didn’t have much at all when I was saved.

In fact faith only let me know it was there moments before I claimed salvation. I knew faith was in my heart… when my heart gave a tug.

It then connected with my mind and there it is.

When we ask the Lord to come into your heart at a moment of sincerity … He does.

No offense here but what makes them think they decide who goes.

sb,

We are all sinners saved by grace; if we 'broke one commandment we broke them all'. James 2:10-11

But you said on another thread that some sins aren't as bad as others, and not all are punishable by death/ hell.

.

Yeah, I like it better when yu speak from your own heart, not the scripture.

Catholicism it basically a continuance of the old pagan Roman traditions. There were priests in Rome, confession, baptism at birth, sacraments, incense, an altar and just about every aspect of the ritual has it's origin in the paganism of anceint Rome. Then, of course, the saints are basically the gods made over.

That's what makes Catholicism cool and that's why Protestanism is so lame. Plus it's heresy.

Cool I’m glad you read it. Lol

Right its true the discernment is … we are all sinners.

Have you ever tole one tiny weenie mite of a white lie?

[i’m expecting a …yes… here]

Ok you’re a sinner you tole a lie.

So if we broke one Commandment we broke them all.

True; some sins are not to death, some are to death.

For those sins that are not unto death.

We can consider how we might pay or suffer loss?

As we live and breath we can pay...actually its better to pay here and now;

We reap what we sow.

God will chastise us.

And in Heaven we can suffer loss of rewards.

An example is we can loose our crown.

We do not want to be ashamed when we appear before the Lord.

Some sins are not as grave to the Lord as others… but I don’t think He lets us get away with it. We get paid back sooner or later.

Yes. As I like to say I'm an atheist, but at least I'm not a heretic.

When I was growing up we were taught the protestants were rednecks who hated Catholics and who repudiated the Blessed Mother. Some may be good people, but they were still going to Hell for refusing to acknowledge Christ's heir on earth, the beloved Holy Father. In the last days when Christ returned he would sort the wheat from the chaffe and with the Pope beside him he would cast the baptists into the abyss alongside the jews, the muslims and the atheists, but the baptists and anglicans and all other heretics would suffer exceptional torment for falsely using the name of Christ.

which Pope would get the honors? Pius IX? Urban VIII? or maybe Celestine IV?

That was never specified, but it'd probably be the one who made love to the least amount of boys.

Of course! The biggest threat to the church was always heretics rather than heathens. The heretics are preaching to you own congregation, nobody gives a damn what heathens think. Heretics are a schismatical threat, heathens are not.

Incidentally, making love to boys is also an old Roman tradition.

Like the biggest threat to communists were always social democrats, they are competing for those of the marxist persuasion.

Your going to love this one Alphamale,

The first Church of Christ was Christendom.

Believers of Christ gathered together ....without a building.

For where there are two or three gathered together—Jesus name, He is in the midst of them.

Saved we are the Church. We do not need a building.

We are not to forsake the assembly of ourselves together. And if all we were …were two or three. It’s enough.

Consider many cannot make it to church for spiritual lifting and fellowshipping with other believers.; for for health, work or reasons of travel.

Not to be concerned; for we are the Church.

With Christ before us through salvation and prayer...

we would not lack... not even water Baptism is necessary.

Jesus Baptized Not in earthly water.

Jesus Baptized in the Holy Spirit.

To clarify this statement…

Know we can be baptized in earthly water; and still go to hell.

It’s the Holy Spirit Baptism that saves.

In short if all the Church buildings were suddenly destroyed…

The Church is still here.

Jesus will call His Church Home … in the twinkling of an eye.

Isaiah: (Old Testament)

9:6 For a child has been born to us,

a son has been given to us.

He shoulders responsibility

and is called:

Wonderful Counselor,

Mighty God,

Everlasting Father,

Prince of Peace.

9:7 His dominion will be vast

and he will bring immeasurable prosperity.

He will rule on David’s throne

and over David’s kingdom,

establishing it and strengthening it

by promoting justice and righteousness,

from this time forward and forevermore.

The zeal of the Lord will accomplish this.

This is talking about Jesus

 Virgin Mary is really really strong faith woman who can see her son die like that. Only strong faith can sustain her at that moment
