cheza2920
Hey guys, me, my long-term boyfriend, and a close friend of ours are moving in together soon, hopefully in August. We found a PERFECT place that is actually in our budget. However, I was trying to figure out so that we have an idea of what to expect, for anyone here who ever lived in an apartment with roomates or alone, what was your average electric bill? power bills? Cable/internet/phone bill? Etc? Thanks so much. Were just trying to get an idea of how much we need to have saved before we move in. (Rent is $770 per month with water and sewage included, $300 pets (we have a cat) and a few other things) THANKS SO MUCH
fluffy0
The questions you asked depend largelyon where you live because power costs different amounts in different parts of the country and it also depends on teh size of the apartment alot. I live in a tiny one-bedroom with my boyfriend and the gas & electric combined is around 20$ a month. Lately it's been getting more expensive, around 25$. We cant afford cable or interent right now, we just have to go to the library to use internet. And, since getting a landline without a "bundle" deal (that means phone, intenet, cable combined) is kinda expensive, we jsut use our cell phones ( seems like the only people who call on land lines are telemarketers anyways). So I guess all I pay is 20$, on top of rent. If you aren't living on your own now, you might want to consider how much furniture and household supplies will initially cost you. Before we moved in together I was living in a dorm and he lived at home, so we had to basically start from scratch. I think we spent about 200-300$ on dishes, cooking utensils, organizational stuff, etc. Furniture ( we had absoulutely none to start out with exept a kitchen table and a futon bed) was about 300-400 for everything combined ( we got most of it from thrift stores. Before you move in, discuss with your boyfriend how you are going to split the bills, chores, and what your long term goals are in your relationship. Find out EVERYTHING you can about each other before moving in.
