Is this a lost cause?

I was wondering if anyone out there has any advice from that might be beneficial to me? Everyone around here seems to have the same opinion and it isnt helping me. Ill fill you in on the background.

 

Me and my girlfriend broke up 3 weeks ago. We had been dating for 8 months prior to that. We had a few fight but nothing major. Neither of us cheating and both of us spent all the time together. Our last fight was over a friend coming home that I didnt meet the first time she was around. The friend flipped on me for no reason and I took it out on the x. She called it off from me saying she couldnt do it no more.

 

Here is where it gets tricky. 2 weeks before we broke up we booked a trip together. 10 days before we broke up she went to a friends baby shower and supposedly from the girls that where there she talked and talked about how happy she was and how excited she was to go on this trip. Roughly a month before we broke up my mother and her had a talk where supposedly my mother told her she thought I really liked her. I guess the X replied she was crazy about me also.

 

The day we broke up i went to her house trying to talk her out of it. She claimed she was too unhappy to go on. She never once said anything was wrong so I didnt have any idea. She said she was too blame also for not saying a thing. She was crying so hard she actually threw up a few times I was there. A week later I met her again. Once again she was crying. She said she needed time. I thought at this point things were going to get better but she didnt bother calling me for almost another week. When I tried to get ahold of her she went off on me saying her brother hated me and her sister in law hated me but her parents still liked me. (her brother and her are extremely close). After that day I never heard from her again for another week in a half. I was at the bank where she works up stairs and I was at the teller. The girl who works the front desk knows we dated and knows who I am. I swear she called up and told her I was in the bank but I cannot confirm this. Needless to say she came up behind me and began to talk to me. She mentioned she couldnt stop shaking. When I asked her what she was thinking she replied she didnt know anymore what she was thinking. I told her I loved her and this was the worst part of my life. She got really emotional and said she couldnt talk about this now and ran upstairs. It looked like she was going to cry. I called her the next day to see if she wanted to do something this weekend for a few hours but she had some friends(both guys) coming into town this weekend. I know they are just friends so I'm not worried.

 

My question to everyone is what is going on? Everyone around me thought she was crazy about me. All my friends and family thought for sure we were getting married. I guess the other thing to add is i am 29 and she is 23. What are you're thoughts?
