I know this might sound odd, because I didn't expect to even like this movie, but the Pope John Paul II movie with Jon Voight is great, but even more, it is really inspiring. The dedication and motivation of the Pope toward his goals is truly inspiring. My coworker and I watched it together and both loved it, we also found a site - johnpaul2movie.com, where you can watch some great clips.

I absolutely, positively love JPII –*here was a guy so committed to his faith that he was able to effectively share it with others. Not as an "official" of the church, but almost like a beloved family member who you knew you could trust.

the Vatican closed the cause for sainthood on April 2, the second anniversary of his death. From what I understand, there's already one proven miracle because of his intercession, so that means he will be known as Blessed Pope JPII, and I'm hoping a second miracle is verified so that he can be declared a saint. Which I'm pretty sure he will, there are just too many lives he's touched to NOT have yielded additional miracles.

about the movie – I've read interviews with Voight and Cary Elwes (the young John Paul in the film), and they talk about how doing the movie really impacted their faith ... that Voight was allowed to keep the papal ring created for the movie and that it keeps him humble ...
