It would be worth it for you to take a year and a half and get a Master's in Teaching, particularly in special education. The need for special education teachers is going to skyrocket, there already is a shortage pretty much nationwide. Teachers' salary are going up. In 9 years of teaching I am at the $50,000 mark in a state which is not particularly high up in the rankings of teacher salary.

Can you say...Summers Off? Even in extended school year districts you're still talking a lot of days off. It's awesome.

Teaching is a great and rewarding career but it's not for me, I dislike children and I don't have that sort of patience. I'm actually planning on law school but I won't actually be starting classes for a long time.

I always had you pegged as a spoilt little rich kid, haha.

You lie and I'm not rich.

I was actually going to suggest law school, too. That's great.

Are you smoother than chocolate? I'm sure something tasty will turn up very soon. Enjoy a spot of freedom whilst it lasts.

Lets see what jobs pay well? High Class call girls, Pays every well. You could make a nice 100+ a year.

I lived in a condo project in La Costa CA Some young ladies also lived in the same complex. They seemed to have it all. They owned the Condo they were living in nice cars BMW's and Porches. Great clothes and never seemed to work hard. I ask one one day what she did. She said she was in PR and worked in Beverly hills.Ok nice gig I thought. Turns out she was one of the call girls working for the infamous Hollywood Madam Heidi Felice.

Yes i am being sarcastic here .... well maybe not?

Hmm sorry to break it down to you but... usually when a woman calls you useless, it has nothing to do with the career advice you've been giving her

I'm just glad you didn't kick me in the family jewels.

Vera thanks for the Hotel suggestion. But I'm not that kind of guy. She has to buy me dinner first before I'll putout. I might be a man-ho but not a cheap one.:p

that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm getting my masters in education and will be making way more than the average person starting out teaching with only a b.a. A year and a half to go..I can't wait:)

Wow, uhmm okay. The last page of comments aside,

I am NOT looking for career advice, I am NOT asking what jobs pay "a lot"

What I am saying is that in the last month or so I have made an observation. This observation is that there are many jobs being offered that require a 4 year degree yet pay only around 30K. What I am saying is that this seems to be a downward shift in salary from only several months ago. I also expressed my surprise at this shift and wondered if this rapid change is the result of the local economy. I ended by saying that I, a recent grad have received a salary higher than 30K before even graduating college and yes that i was surprised by the low wages being offered.

And no I wasn't even upset because "my old job doesn't pay as much anymore" as someone said above.

And I really don't mind jokes of hijacking of my threads, I just wanted to be clear about what I was trying to say, as I don't like my posts being twisted around/misunderstood.

Fair enough, i live in an area that has historically been a very low paying area. The problem now is we have a very hot job market. around 35 unemployment. Yet the companies are not paying. now we hear chompies saying that they can't retain good people and they imply that people have no loyalty. If they paid better ,they just might fond it easier to keep qualified people around.

A friend of mine isa teacher in So Cal he has a Masters and has been Teaching a long time. he has won awards and isa well respected teacher. he says he and others are under a lot of pressure because of what they get paid. seems the school Board is looking for any excuse to get rid of high paid Teachers. They would rather have less qualified and lower paid Teachers.

What resources are you using to find these job postings? Are they the same resources you used before? When I was looking, I noticed I got very different job postings from Monster than I did from CareerJournal than I did from my university's career center...
