sunshine79 Posted April 12, 2007 Share Posted April 12, 2007 i've been engaged 7 months now, living with my fiance. things are going good...we've had our ups nad downs but i know he is the one. anyway, i've been married before...divorced in less than a year. it was horrible. i've started trusting men again and 2.5 years later here i am. we have planned to go away and get married, come back to our town and have a big reception/party thing for everyone to celebrate our marriage with us. neither one of us want a huge church wedding and really don't mind going away, just me and him, get married and return to a reception. NOW the problem is we have chose wehre we want to go but cna't find anywhere to get married...don't know what we're doing. thought about one of the sandals resorts thing but he's not so big on the beach and i understand that...sooo...now we're looking at new york or maybe colorado. vegas has even crossed our minds. anyone been in my situation on finding teh perfect spot? i know we need to decide now as places are booking up and fast. i secretly want to have a small TINY wedding here, just invite my parents and his parents and our sis and bros but that never works out...that's why that's my secret... ugh...any help here??? When DH & I eloped, he first offered to do it in Vegas, where we were going for vacation, but I didn't want that ... so he suggested the family eloping grounds just north of the Alabama-Tenn state line. And that was nice, because we were able to have his mom there as witness. of course, I think I want to go back to Vegas to renew our vows in the Little Chapel of Elvis this summer, because I think it'd be a gas! Author sunshine79 Posted April 12, 2007 Author Share Posted April 12, 2007 there is a small river near here but we can't get married "on/at" it because of the city...just our little "spot" i wish i knew how i could 'dodge' having more than just family there...his family is HUGE and if one aunt went, the distant aunt would expect to go...too many hurt feelings IMHO but it's hard for him to understand that's exactly how it would go. that's why we've decided to elope but not secretively and still have hte party Link to post Share on other sites
