skinut2234
I have a giant cold sore that is finally healing but it's on the outside of my lip. Now it's healing more and turning white...... Looks like hell! Is there any thing I can put in this thing to make it blend it? I'm scared to leave the house
dropdeadlegs
I don't think there's much you can do to disguise a cold sore. There are things you can do when you feel one emerging. I don't get them, but my daughter and she uses over the counter stuff called Zilactin to make the breakout less severe and it seems to shorten the length of time, too. When she gets what she calls the "tingle" feeling she starts using it. She also uses Carmex, but I think it's more after a break out than before. There's a prescription drug called Valtrex that a friend of mine uses, but she gets genital herpes breakouts, not oral ones. I think Valtrex is expensive.
Fun2BMe
I don't get them either but to cover it up if you're a girl maybe use some red or dark lipstick and if you're a boy maybe you can get a lipstick to match the shade of your lips and wear it over the sore only to hide it. amaysngrace
What stinks is that once you get them you are prone to get them. There is nothing you can use to hide it. I use over the counter natural lip balm that contains lysine. I put mederma on after it's gone to prevent any scarring. But when you feel one coming on, the best thing to do to minimize the duration is pop 2 lysine tablets a couple of times a day for a day or two. It's an amino acid and can be found in the vitamin aisle. Also, you need to be very careful when you have one. Wash your hands before you wipe. Also, if you use a towel to dry your face immediately put it to be washed. Don't use it anywhere else on your body. Also, no kissing or any other fun stuff until it's gone. They are very contagious. Steven Tyler gave me one once. Also, don't forget your sunblock. 15 SPF or better. Even in spring and fall if you're going to be outdoors. I feel for you. These things suck. norajane
Can you put a tiny band-aid or liquid bandage on it and pretend you got a sports injury or something..."yeah, I was playing softball the other day, and failed to catch the ball before it connected with my mouth and cut my lip..."
