Reckless
Culture demands... I live in Paris and when I first arrived I smiled and made eye contact. A smile and a nod = hello in the UK but in France you actually say hello 'bonjour' but Parisians don't usually smile except as a sign of amusement. My looking at people and smiling was greeted with confused fear by women and children and confused embarassement by men. A certain type of smile/look is universal 'helloooo how you doin'?' but that aside I've learnt (sadly) to be a little more conservative with the smiles I bestow on complete strangers... culture demands *sigh*
