Which Sins are committed the most?

Just curious what sins are commited the most. I cant find any average...but I would assume the most commited one would be to covet...wether its lust, or jealousy of another person or thing....

I know for me...and I have no problem admitting this.....I break number 10 every day....I have lust in my mind for any good looking woman. I think EVERY man...christian or not...breaks this sin everyday....as much as we think we have control....the male mind cant help itself....

I also break #3 at times...I try not to...but it just comes out. I think everyone has lied or stolen somthing (like a pen from work, or whatever)before and if you say you havent...your lieing :lmao: ....I work in construction...so you kinda have to bend the truth at times...I dont like it...but it is what it is...

What I find interesting is #5 (Honer mother and father) is the only one that states a reward for following this commandment.....your days will be long in the land your God is giving you..... Whats sad is, I have disrespected them in the past...I think most teenagers/child do at some point. But I dont now....wait I do...sometimes I state my frustration with my fathers selfishness...but I still look up to him.

1. You shall have no other Gods before me.

2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

6. You shall not murder.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s."

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Well, if I understand correctly all that this encompasses, I’d have to say this one.

When you really think about it, people lye about (and to) each other all the time. They fabricate untruths, excuses and alibis to justify why it’s okay to do harm to their friends, neighbors, loved ones and even complete strangers ... all the time. Dishonesty also seems to be the precursor for a lot of the other crappy things that people do to each other.

Then again ... I just got done reading another one of those gawd-awful “It’s the wife’s fault her husband cheated with me” threads, so my opinion might be a little skewed at the moment.

Orthodox Jews believe that Christians Break the 1,2 and 4, all the time. Christains have turned one God into Three or at least god in three Parts. Pictures of Jesus, the cross and crucifixions are seen as graven images.

The Sabbath is not Sunday. It is sundown Friday untill Sundown Saturday. So you are not holding the sabbath sacred.

It is interesting to note that Men should not covet another mans wife. Nothing is said about a woman coveting another woman's husband.

Proper translation of the word Adultery might apply to only woman. In other words a woman can't have sex outside of marriage but a man can.

In fact The law says if a man takes the virginity of a woman he has to pay the father for his loss. Also if a man sleeps with a woman he should marry her, and take her as his wife. Doesn't matter if he already has a wife. However the 2nd and 3rd wife has to submit to the will of the first wife.

I would agree that lusting and coveting would be number one of the hit parade. Everything we every ad on TV and Magazines is based on lust and greed. We want better cars, better then what other drive, we want to get that promotion at work over our co-workers. We went a better looking gf friend. live in a better home. Have more expensive and better clothes to wear to chruch.

Everything I posted is in the bible, Just some things to think about.

So how do Jews think about their Messiah who can live forever? If they believe in Messiah, then they do break 1,2 as well?

I think they are equally important.

Lust after neightbor's wife? King David did this too, he not only lust, but also moved to ACTION, even He is so loved by God, God still punished him for this....God is a jutice God.

So many women were hurt by their husband's unfaithfulness. If you cannot handle small things, you cannot be trusted to big things; if you are unfaithful on small things, you are not faithful on bigger things.

Faithfulness is a charactor.

I have not seen anything in the old testament that says the Messiah will live forever. Jews believe the Messiah is sent from God and not a God himself.

Both are Christian Concepts

He not only took action he had another man killed to get her. All the while he already had several wives and concubines. Seems David was a pretty lusty guy, he just had to have one more.

We do lie all the time. We " innocently lie". We even lie to ourselves:) i:e "can you work for me tonight?"

"No I can't I have things to do", even when I know I have nothing to do but stay home and watch tv. But because I don't want to work for you It's easier to say I have things to do. I think those are innocent lies.

But lies that are commited by a person everyday to where people are noticing these lies is not only telling lies but is living a lie. I try to stick with truth rather than tell a lie.

We all sin, no matter what religion or even if we are a religion. But the thing is to know where you are sinning and know where you are wrong. We can't be perfect but we can try to have balance in every thing that makes up a good wholesome person.

Other than stealing things or actually doing something of sin. We think sin everyday. We have these innate instict of whos ugly and whos not. Can we actually help these thoughts? I don't think so. The thing that is really wrong about them is if you treat a person differently because of looks.

Sometimes I think, since the word is out there that god loves everyone. That god is crazy for loving some people.

Thats good that your noticing these thoughts. Some men don't think twice about having lust for another woman. Don't even give it a wink a think. Good for you..

My first reaction when I saw the title was "sexual sins" it seems that sexual misconduct seems to affect a lot of high profile ministries.

However I'll go with the original theme of your post and say I would have to say 8-stealing and 9-lying are the ones most violated, people don't even realize they are doing it much of the time.

I steal pens and lighters constantly, not on purpose... they just end up in my pocket or purse and I don't remember putting them there. But by not making an effort to return them to their proper owners I am still technically stealing. How many people have something laying around their house that belonged to their employer and somehow made it home with us?

Same with lies, they just slip out sometimes. We say we are busy when someone wants us to come visit, even though we aren't, we lie to bill collectors and say the person they are calling for isn't home, we lie to the officer when we say we thought the speed limit was 60, and we are shocked to hear it was 45.

I try not to violate these basic commandments, and I'm proud to say I have never violated #6. The rest... ehhh, from time to time they have come up. :o

Yes, It is written in Old Testement:

Isaiah 9 (*)There will be no way for them to escape from this time of trouble. The land of the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali was once disgraced, but the future will bring honor to this region, from the Mediterranean eastward to the land on the other side of the Jordan, and even to Galilee itself, where the foreigners live.

9:2 (*)The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them.

9:3 You have given them great joy,(s) Lord; you have made them happy. They rejoice in what you have done, as people rejoice when they harvest grain or when they divide captured wealth.

9:4 For you have broken the yoke that burdened them and the rod that beat their shoulders. You have defeated the nation that oppressed and exploited your people, just as you defeated the army of Midian long ago.

9:5 The boots of the invading army and all their bloodstained clothing will be destroyed by fire.

9:6 A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, "Wonderful(t) Counselor," "Mighty God," "Eternal Father," "Prince of Peace."

9:7 (*)His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David's successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The LORD Almighty is determined to do all this.

It is there, how can you deny it?

but at that time, people are not so many like today. They need produce more babes that time. but we don't need that many today.

Christian take that as proof of Jesus being the son of God. Jews do not. They inteprate those prophecies to mean a living breathing human King. Not a man/ God I also read that as Israel being everlasting and not the Messiah.

I see #4 getting busted all the time.

I mean just look at the buffet restaurant lines after church. Making those poor employees work on Sundays.
