Confused610
I've taken about every SSRI available for depression. The ones I remember are prozac paxil and zoloft. I'm assuming those are the major ones you are talking about, the SSRI's. The other ones, that don't really have a catagory is wellbutrin and effexor. I'm currently taking wellbutrin. (and a lot of other stuff) Now, I think SSRI's are bogus, they really didn't help me and if they did at one point it was because I was really manic. Wellbutrin does actually help, it makes me think more positive, clearer, more focused. Although, it could be the geodon or trileptal..who knows. As for negative and positive thoughts, none of anti-depressants work that way, they help you, but they don't make you do anything..it's kind of hard to explain. When I was at the partial hospital one of the teachers was like "hey , why are you not doing any work" and I said "I cannot concentrate" and he said, "well what are YOU, a product of MEDICINE?" Ever since then I have been thinking differently. Medicine does not change who you are, but helps you.....ahh sorry I'm getting off track, I'll shutup now!

It can be very difficult to find the right medicine or combination of medicines to show improvement. But you're right--medicine will only do so much. The patient has to get motivated to help themselves. Best wishes, Paul
