How do I approach her?

Recommended Posts

Theres this girl I met last summer through a friend, and she had a boyfriend at the time. I wasn't unattracted to her, but at the same time I wasn't really drawn to her either. I quickly found out through this friend that this girl thought I was pretty cute; I didn't really think much of it since I wasn't really interested anyway, and she had a BF. I told my friend to tell her "Thx" for me and that was it...

I saw her periodically every couple months through mutual friends, at random places around our neighborhood and I must say lately she has kinda grown on me. Her look really intrigues me now, and I find her quite attractive. She has had her ups an downs with her boyfriend...going from single to being complicated, and I think now they're kind of in an in-between zone.

Thing is I don't really know this girl well, and the bigger problem is that we have a lot of mutual friends. It's not like if I ask her out and she turns me down, it's gonna make the whole group awkward because truth be told I don't see her much anyway. But I know she is going to tell everything that happens to her good friends (whom I am also friends with) and that makes me a little uncomfortable.

I have this girl on facebook, so I knew her MSN address so I could easily add her and go from there. That'd be what I'd normally do in a situation like this...but a mutual friend of ours offered to 'test the waters' for me. Ask her what she thought about me etc., maybe get a read on how things are between her 'BF' before I actually make a move myself.

The idea of getting my friend to find out whether she is interested in me or not is quite appealing, I must say. I don't have to risk rejection, I can find probably find out the real story between her and her bf in the process (Long distance relationship btw) and would make things a lot easier. But at the same time I don't want to come across like I am too scared to ask her out myself so I have to get my friend to do the dirty work for me.

Again, this might seem like a small issue but the fact that we have a lot of mutual friends means that I want to be very careful because I know whatever happens will be shared amongst everyone! lol...

Are you sure your that attracted to her or is it because you think she finds you cute and it makes the pursuit easier for you?

I know feelings can grow but you have stated you don't really know her so what is it that has intrigued you?

As for asking her out, I wouldn't as long as she has the bf. Don't worry about what your friends will think ( it's your life not theirs ) but you don't want someone who isn't available. Once you go down that road your friends might have a valid reason for shunning you. It's ok to let her know your interested but you won't date her until she has dropped the bf.

Well apparently my friend did a little research for me (very cleverly apparently) and found out that this chick is not good relationship material ie. she cheats on her 'bf' all the time. So yea...not really wanting to get involved in anything serious with her haha. But she might be good for some hookups...i'll keep this thread updated if anything happens.
