Men...how important is it that your girlfriend cooks for you?

An expression of caring is just that, doing something nice for the person you care about. I see it as also a voluntary expression such as cooking for someone or for that matter, changing the oil in their car. Why these expressions of caring should be gender-biased defeats me completely.

Marriage or any relationship is about both parties wanting to be together and wanting to contribute to each other's well-being. I see no reason why one gender should get more than the other. In cases of inequality, you can rest assured the relationship will not survive, 'cause sooner or later the doormat is either thrown aside or the doormat gets a backbone.

How does cooking equal love? Especially when both people get home from work at the same time why should the man go sit down and relax while the women does more work?

Why is it even worth being mattied to a man who can't feed himself everyday?

because things were much better when the sexes had their own roles and responsibilities. society and marriage have gone down the tubes in the past 30 or 40 years. and I blame most of it on bra-burning women who say crap like "no i wont make dinner...."

a real women cooks and cleans and takes care of her kids and husband.

I've yet to meet a perfect man although I've fallen in love with a few who are very imperfect... ;)

So true. I've dated guys who had nothing and we still had a great time. (I remember one was a dairy farmer and another one worked at a muffler shop..and there were others.) And I've rejected good-looking men who had money because they were cocky and arrogant and just generally didn't have the kind of character that I admire in a man.

I don't believe this because I do believe in equality. That being said many women today want men to be in the doormat role which makes them no better than the sexists they claim to fight. Feminists have no use anymore because they acheived their goal so now they are bored and cause more trouble than they are worth.

Same here. To me, a real man treats his partner with the same respect that he receives, instead of objectifying her like a slave or a trophy to wear on his arm.

yea TBF well to me a "real woman" cooks and cleans and takes care of her kids and husband and the house. if it was good enough for my ma then its good enough for all women.

jesus christ i don't think i've ever had good sex with a woman who could not cook. if a woman says to me she can't cook early on then she's out the door.

I don't know about the sex thing, it seems to me thats irrelevant to sex.

You have to be realistic about the economy and how it works these days. If a woman has the opportunity to bring in more money than the man she will do it and that sometimes means more time at work. That means they both have to contribute towards the domestic duties. You're ma came from a different time, like mine did. She still does the cooking too, but my father does the alundry and the floors. Now that I'm here I do the floors and the yard and swimming pool and sometimes I cook, but no-one likes my cooking, but me.

Men say that, then when the wife wants to cut down on her hours at work or quit her career altogether to be a SAHW/M, he bellyaches about that, too, because of needing more income. Then when divorce comes, he b**tches about child support and alimony, because she stayed home to raise the kids and cook/clean, etc. all those years and lost work skills and employability, or ability to earn as much as he does in the workforce.

your not a guard dog... and if you were even a guard dog needs to let down his guard sometimes.

Some of the sexiest men know how to cook...when a man knows how to cook that is very attractive to a woman...they have something in common and share a common interest, it is no secret that men love to eat, well women love good food as well.

I would chat it up with a chef and see him as talented vs a big boss man who I have nothing in common with.

So the woman takes care of kids, house and man and the man provides. As for protection, this isn't necessary.

A man has one job and a woman has three. Could you please explain to me where marriage benefits a woman more than a man?

It doesn't that is just his perspective...

I'm curious to know how he feels he can logically justify his perspective...

I never said that your weren't a good cook... Cooking is fun, but when someone puts it out there to make sure that she knows how it is a turnoff right off the bat. If a guy asked me if I knew how to cook and I got the feeling that he was asking because that is on his list I would probably pretend that I had no clue.

All they have to do is to ask George Washington why he felt that way.

Regardless of the fact that I come from a non-gun toting country, I actually support the NRA on this one. If I had the right to bear arms and someone broke into my home, you can bet I would shoot. I'm far from being a pacifist...

So do I. I wandered off for awhile because I had to pop my roast chicken in the oven. It's got my own secret rub on it and yes, I'm expecting male company tonight. We're going to have dinner then...who knows... ;)

I agree with that totally, TBF.

I would say though, that I'm somewhat similar to WWIU, in that I have this traditional view that it's nice if the woman cooks for her husband. It's a social/familial conditioning of sorts, because I've grown up watching my mom cook for us. Not that she was forced to take on that role - it was just natural for her to do that. So I guess I would probably be cooking at least half the time if I was married.

My only stumbling block right now is that I take quite a bit of time if I'm cooking for others. I think cooking is definitely a form of self-expression, so I try to get everything perfect.
