Miss_Bee
thats just it.... Everyday or other day.... I tell myself. Ok.... You are going to start walking for an hour every day that you don't have to come home and cook supper after work. You WON'T crack a beer after you get home, because if you do, there won't be any walking going on after that beer is cracked.... but what do i do? After promising myself that the night before as i'm getting ready for bed.... WTF do i do? I go out and buy 15 beer..... after work, me and my honey end up having a few and who ever cooks cook. Even if it's his turn to cook, i still end up cleaning around the house and dealing with our girls needs. I REALLY want to loose a few pounds, but how can i do that without no will power? It's like I am determined to do it one night, then the next day, i go against everything i promised myself in regards to it without even knowing it. Does anyone relate? Or for that matter have any advice or strategies that can help me build up my NON-EXISTENT will power???? Damn it... having a beer as we speak!
Pyro
You just have to find the right motivation, or you just have to force yourself to do it. No one said that it would be easy. Look at it this way, if you don't start taking care of yourself now, then it will only lead to complications when you are older.
Author Miss_Bee
Yeah Rids, but it's like i don't even think about what i'm doing until later... then I curse and shake my fricken head... Thinkin I wanted to get out and walk today.. Maybe i have to just find away to keep it in the back of my mind all the time? Maybe just focus on it? I don't know.

If you want something bad enough, you will get it. You have to make this a top priority. Like I said, it will take the right kind of motivation. I decided to eat a lot healthier after seeing a certain documentary and I plan on sicking to it.
Author Miss_Bee
Yes i agree, i just have to keep it in mind all the time.. I REALLY need to stop drinking during the week. We've been doing alot of it lately. Year end has been pretty stressful. We've had problems in that regard. It's nice to come home and have a cold one after all that before having to pick up the girls. But as great as that temptation is, i have to stop giving in in the afternoon and crucifying myself for it at bedtime. Where can i find the motivation? It's like i WANT to do it at night, but when it comes down to it, my attitude is shyte i think "well, i'll start tomorrow... today was rough" But at night later on, my attitude is totally different.. But it's just an on going cycle.

Unfortunately I can't tell you where to find it. Let me ask this....why do you want to go on walks? What are you looking to get out of this? Easy for you to say . I must have an addiction problem if it isn't will power. I want to walk during the week because i have a few extra pounds that i want to lose. I am not happy at all with the way that i look and i am insecure because of it. I think that the relationship between my and my honey would improve alittle if i were to do this. dropdeadlegs
Miss_Bee, I struggle with the exact same problem! Not only is beer a deterrent, but posting on LS has taken on a life of it's own! I can do both at the same time (drink beer and post), but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do exercise with either! Housework is suffering to a lesser extent too! I hope you find the answers and share them with me. You have my sympathy and complete understanding.

The longer you wait, the slower your metabolism becomes and the more difficult it will be to lose the pounds. I can do both at the same time (drink beer and post). You are one talented woman. It's such a stress release to come home and relax , have a beer after work with my sweetie for 1 quiet hour before i have to go get the kids... Then I pick them up, either me or my bf makes supper and the routine is on. Next thing you know we are tucking in the girls and are both buzzing. The motivation is gone once you are buzzed.... I know about the LS thing too that though.. I can say is a good addiction. This place has made me a stronger person in alot of ways. I grew up with no communication what so ever in my family. Every thing was buried like a secret... I am still finding out life's trials and tribulations as i go... But it has all made me stronger. This place has taught me ALOT. And yeah.. my house work has suffered also, especially with a shedding boxer that leaves freaking hair everywhere every time he does so much as bats his eyes .

Yes Rids, I have to get after it!... To tell the truth though. I have been battling this all my life. I was a chubby kid, grew into a nasty fat teen... Lost it all, and was VERY happy with the way that i looked. Then i had my second child and now i find it VERY hard to find the time to do anything other than work and the house work at home. I WANT to believe me i do. I really want to do this. I just have to get the ball rolling. You are one talented woman. I agree with Rids

dropdeadlegs
I, too, need to shed a few pounds. Walking would be so good, and drinking beer, even light beer, is full of extra calories keeping me stuck with my 15 pounds. My metabolism sucks and sitting in this chair posting isn't increasing it. I don't know what to do. I know my honey would not be interested in walking at all, but that is my best suggestion - asking him to walk with you. I know my honey would say "keep the extra pounds , but I ain't walking" In other words the pounds don't bother him at all, they are my issue, and he walks all day at work and has no intention of doing so afterwards. Often his feet hurt. I guess I should find a walking buddy of my own. He rarely even shares in the beer, but doesn't mind if I do. I think he expects it! Yes, LS has been beneficial to me, as well. Even with a short membership I feel I have learned so much. I wish I had found it much earlier in life.

I felt horrible. Very bad..... Was teased alot. The Crappy Ass thing is.. Is that i feel like that again. I feel like i could lose 20 pounds. But my bf always comments on "fat" women on Tv, and i must say, that i wonder, well... what does he think of me? That really makes me shudder. I will have to start and sometime soon. I suppose i could even put out an add. for a teen to come and wtch the girls for an hour everyday while i walk.

DDL, it's a shame that we don't live in the same place we could go walking together I know what you mean, my honey wouldn't ever walk with me either. He's fit and fine and doesn't need to lose any wieght. In fact, he has a hard time keeping it on...
dropdeadlegs
It is a shame.... I could walk on my own. I live on a dead end street and could walk it back and forth even if my kids were home "alone" while I did it. I don't even work, so I'm really LAME. I could easily do it while they are in school. But school is almost over. I could go to the park that has a walking trail and do my thing while they played on the equipment. I could go to my BF's house and walk his road, which is a much nicer are than my own. his road is almost exactly one mile in distance. It's not about knowing what needs to be done, it's about the WILL POWER. I wish I knew the way to develop will power.
Author Miss_Bee
DDL, I wish i had your brain all your suggestion for yourself, made me think of many that i can use.... But your right... it all comes down to Willpower. I know that when i do start my girls will be dying to come with, but i feel that i can't get any excerise because i will have to walk at their pace. My bf says to me that he loves me the way that i am, which is wonderful I just don't feel good enough about my physical appearance. I want to be sexy, and that, i definitley am not. When i talked to him about it, his first reaction was "take the kids" and that bogged me down a bit because i can't really power walk with a 7 and 5 year old in tow ya know? It would be more of a nature walk if they were with me. ... "Mommy, why is the sky blue?, why do dogs bark? Why are there different types of cars?" Especially with their tiny legs and all BTW DDL, I checked your profile pic and you look fantastic

Especially with their tiny legs and all BTW DDL, I checked your profile pic and you look fantastic I soooo understand your need to walk alone. I have a 9 and 6 year old and they definitely slow you down. Maybe slow isn't all that bad. It has to be better than nothing! My profile pic is almost two years ago. I have gained 15 pounds since then! I'm just horrible about taking pictures in general, and I honestly wouldn't want to post a current one! I watched celebrity fat club on VH1 for a few minutes today. The women in my weight range looked so fat! Way worse than me at a similar weight. Maybe the camera really does add ten pounds, but I found it frightful.
Enema
Get an exercise bike, set an alarm to go off at 6pm or whatever time you know is good for you to exercise and go for it. Ride it while watching TV, the time will fly by and you don't have to prepare anything as it's just in your own house so no excuses!

I'm the same way DDL, I hate being in front of a camera. I am satisfied with maybe 1 out of 100 pictures, and in that case i've only been satisfied with maybe 3 or 4 in my whole life! Yes your right. I think i'll take them out with me after work today. They'll enjoy it i'm sure. I know that they won't want to come walking everyday. But at least once in a while is better than nothing. Also, some women carry their weight well, you must be one of them . I on the other hand, do not. Get an exercise bike, set an alarm to go off at 6pm or whatever time you know is good for you to exercise and go for it. Ride it while watching TV, the time will fly by and you don't have to prepare anything as it's just in your own house so no excuses! Enema, that's a good idea. Actually, I have an excerise bike. It's collecting dust in the basement. I used to use it when i was living alone. I also used to use Taebo That sounds cheezy i know. But it really worked! My bf lives with me now and i'm one of those people that need to excerise with out eyes watching me. That's why i thought walking would be a good idea. My bf was talking about getting a bowflex or some thinga majiggie, If the price is right i think we might just go for it.
josie54
thats just it.... Everyday or other day.... I tell myself. Ok.... You are going to start walking for an hour every day that you don't have to come home and cook supper after work. You WON'T crack a beer after you get home, because if you do, there won't be any walking going on after that beer is cracked.... An hour every day? I'd say, set your sights lower! Few people's willpower will help them go from no exercise to an hour of exercise in a single leap. Instead of an hour, tell yourself, "I will walk for FIVE MINUTES a day, for at least three days this week." Get a routine going with those five minutes, which should be just a walk up and down the block. After two weeks, you'll have set up a routine. Heck, bring the beer along with you. Some days you'll feel like walking more than five minutes. Some days, five minutes will be enough. But after a while, you'll start feeling better. Once you've made five minutes a routine, then you can say, "I will walk for TEN minutes a day." And so on. Also, maybe walking isn't your thing. Consider an exercise bike like a previous poster suggested, or just play a softball game with your kids. All physical activity counts. But I'd suggest that you keep the goals small when you're just getting started. That way, you'll go to bed proud that you did your five minutes, rather than frustrated you didn't even start the full hour. I've found that large successes build on small successes!
