quankanne
the girls here at the office are on some kind of chicharon diet, and have lost weight (3-5 lbs per week). You can eat meat, and select vegetables – chicharones, too – but no fruit, no bread or sugar, no pasta or cheese. Pretty much, it's a protein diet, and they swear by it. They swear by it but unless they are prepared to stay on this type of regime, they will get all the weight back. I absolutely don't believe in dieting...never did, never will. There is only ONE way to lose weight... eat less (more healthy food) and exercise more... there are no miracle diets... unless you want to 'adopt' it for the rest of your life. amaysngrace
Diets are a bunch of BS. You need to change your ways. You can eat anything you want if you prioritize your calories. People who drop 25 lbs in 73 days on a "diet" will likely gain 35 lbs back starting on Day 73. JMO.

hotgurl
I do weight watchers and it so works it all about learning portion sizes, making healthy choices & exercise. you count points. You have a daily alloted point and eat to that. you can eat what ever you want. it is great I've lost 30lbs.

allina
People who drop 25 lbs in 73 days on a "diet" will likely gain 35 lbs back starting on Day 73. JMO. Not true at all! 73 days is over two months, 25 pounds in 73 days is totally possible, especially for someone who has a bit of weight to lose. That's less than 12 lbs a month! Good luck TP. If I may offer some advice that really worked for me when i wanted to drop weight. 1. Move as much as possible (duh) Not even when it comes to working out but in general. When running errands walk or ride your bike. I started doing this 2 months ago, I ride my bike everywhere, to the store, post office, anywhere I need to go. There are clearly limitations but doing this whenever you can helps so much. I ride my bike probably only 25 miles a week or so but it's made a huge difference. Plus I've saved a ton on gas. 2. Eat food large in volume but low in cals. I started eating much healthier and was shocked at how much i could eat and still stay low in cals. 3. This is a questionable one for some people and that's fine but it was great for me. I take pills called Hoodia from gnc. They aren't "diet pills" and none of the speedy dangerous stuff, just a natural appetite suppressant. Pretty much cactus in a pill. I like food, and I'd munch when bored or because i wanted something. These have really changed that and helped me only eat when i was really hungry, not munch and stay full longer and get full quicker. 4. Don't think you can never have "bad" food again, just be good like 90% of the time. I know our situations are not the same, I wanted to drop 15 lbs, but I think you can reach your goal. Good luck. That's a little more than 3 pounds a week, which is doable and maintainable, and possible to lose moreable if you want to.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned what happens to your body when you do this. Your body goes into shock and then starts to draw on your reserves (fat in your body). Sounds scary, doesn't it? johan
I don't know how you're planning to do this, but you're talking about at calorie expenditure/intake difference of just under 1200 calories per day. I don't think that's realistic, unless you start exercising a lot. You could lose water weight, but I doubt that's your goal. If you exercise enough you'll gain muscle weight. I estimate a half-hour run will burn about 600 calories. The rest can be made up in your diet. But that's every single day for 73 days. I hope you do it, but I think you've set your sights a little high.
Green
Its this easy and this hard. First portion your meals into 5 or 6 meals a day this will help you eat less. Avoid any food with unatural ingreedients such as High Fructose Corn Syrup, Look for it to you'll be suprised at all the foods it turns up in. Just eat alot of chicken, fish, vegatables, and fruits coupled with Weight training 3 times a week and arobics 4 times and you should be doing great. Good luck making the life change. Once you build up some muscle it will be easy to lose the wieght and keep it off.
alphamale
People who drop 25 lbs in 73 days on a "diet" will likely gain 35 lbs back starting on Day 73. exact-a-mundo! 98% of dieters fail cause they go back to their old ways after the diet is done and end up gaining more weight back then thay lost. the only thing that works is PERMANENT modification of your eating and exercise habits. Green
yeah when there dieting they lose fat and muscle, and then when they go back to their old ways they gain back only fat so even if they go back to the same weight as before they are probably fatter. The only way to make a lasting change is to eat well ballanced natural food with a good excersise regiment and to do it forever

I exercised 5 days a week on either the elliptical, treadmill, or Gilad tapes (strength training),as well as 20 minute yoga tapes 5 times a week. I basically just ate healthy stuff, lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grain bread and oatmeal, and lean proteins. I even treated myself once a week to fast food or pizza. alphamale
clinical depression is a great way to lose weight. the entire apetite system of the body shuts down. you won't feel like eating anything for 4 to 6 wks and therefore you'll lose a ton of weight.
Teddy and Jane
I gained weight when I went through that.
Teddy and Jane
I gained weight when I went through clinical depression in Jan/Feb/March....but when my relationship ended with my bf of 2 years, I didn't feel like eating. It wasn't really clinical depression, I just didn't feel like eating.
amaysngrace
98% of dieters fail cause they go back to their old ways after the diet is done and end up gaining more weight back then thay lost. the only thing that works is PERMANENT modification of your eating and exercise habits. Plus yo-yo dieting as it's called can totally crush your metabolism. It's called yo-yo because the weight comes off, the weight comes back. It's like following a strict order from someone else rather than figuring out how to lose weight and maintain it on your own. It's quite discouraging, actually. So many people just don't get it. That's why there is a ton of money made in the weight loss business. Fads and quick fixes are money makers from people who have more money than brains IMO. Time has proven that the moment we're told we can't have something is the moment we want it the most. People on diets feel so deprived of something they want so badly that they cheat on their diet. Then they feel like a loser for lacking will-power. So they blow their diet entirely. And eat mass quanitities of the stuff they've been denying themselves of for however long they've been on their diet. Or on the other hand when someone reaches their ideal weight they feel like celebrating. So they eat and drink merrily. And the next thing you know the weight creeps back on. Because they're not on their diet anymore and they haven't learned anything. Like how to eat on their own. There are books that show the caloric value of foods. Everything bought has a label on it. It's really not rocket science. It's really not all that difficult to pay attention to what you're putting into your body. Learn portion control. Learn what a normal portion of Doritos are, for example. You want Doritos, eat Doritos. Just don't eat more than one serving. You're only one person. Eat like one person. Or soon you may look like two people from eating double of what you should have. Is it really all that hard for anyone to grasp the concept?
alphamale
Learn what a normal portion of Doritos are, for example. Its around 12 whole chips and has 150 calories. I like the new habanero flavour, very hot! But who can eat only 12?
amaysngrace
But who can eat only 12? I can't even eat one. I think they smell like BO. But give me cake. Lots of cake. With the sugary-sweet icing and not the one from whipped cream. And please let it be made with butter and not that phony crap that you can taste through all the sugar crystals. Yummy! Cake! Yeah butter creme. Um...yummy. I like the flowers. And the corner pieces. Sometimes I won't even eat the cake. So I can eat more of the frosting. This is what I meant in my first reply to TP. Trialbyfire
Here are three quick tips, which might help: - stop drinking alcohol because many drinks are high-cal; - stop drinking soda pop, there's a ton of sugar in the non-diet varieties; - don't add sugar or milk into coffee and don't drink the fancy coffees.
