He was so romantic and tender and then...

I used to believe that my ex-lover was the most romantic and exciting man on earth. In the beginning of our relationship (first month) things were great; a lot of passion and enthusiasm...But after we decided to live together things became scary. Everytime i was disagreeing with him or everytime i was making a sarcastic joke (but not mean) he would say stuff like "sh** the f*** up", "i hate you", "you're a bitch". Then one day we had an argument and I started crying; While shaking me really violently he was saying "stop crying you stupid bitch" "i'm so worried that i'm capable of killing the woman that i love" "shut up". The more I was crying the more angry he was. After the arguments he would apologise and cry like a baby but the trust was gone. I also need to mention that he was smashing and breaking things all the time... I know he was wrong but I also feel guilty cause one day he told me: "You're the only one who makes me feel so angry"!! Is it that bad to make silly jokes and express your opinion freely? The guy is out of my life now and that's good but i still feel guilty...do you think it's normal?

No, there's nothing wrong with making jokes and expressing yourself freely. It's your right as a human being. You're not his property and you're not a child.

You should be very proud of yourself for leaving him. He was an abuser and believe me it would have only gotten worse.

Hope you find someone better for you next time.
