Pyro Posted May 12, 2007 Share Posted May 12, 2007 My brothers wedding is 7 Saturdays from now. I am standing up in the wedding, but I am not the best man. All this wedding stuff that is going on has me think and I realize that if I were to get married anytime soon, I would not have a best man. I have plenty of friends, but none of them I would be able to pick out and call my best man. Is that weird? Ladies and gents, have any of you whom are married or have hypothetically thought about it have or had the same problem as me? Link to post Share on other sites

I don't know, it just seems very intimate to me. I myself don't like big weddings though, so I may be a bit biased in that regard. I will say this, in the 4 short years I've been married, I've made friends who I am far closer to than my wedding party as has my husband. The wedding is one moment in time, some friends stay, some friends drift off starting lives of their own, so it's one of those problems I wouldn't spend much time dwelling on. The other possibility is that your g/f is your best friend. As for your best man, this is why some people pick family, so they don't need to choose between good friends. Im not certain what constitutes a 'best friend' but I only have a few people I can call my close friends. And out of that few theres one I can probably rely on being the best man..and the irony here is I've known my other friends much longer than this one friend. Maturity and respect is utmost important as well as having gone through thick and thin with each other, and at the end of the day laugh about the dumb ***** we've done. It was difficult to pick without hurting someone's feelings because the ones I would have selected from, we all knew each other since highschool, some closer at different times than others.
