Tony T
Which is less fattening: 100 calories of Oreo Cookies or 100 Calories of lettuce? Please, just pick one or the other...make no comments until later. Thanks!
quankanne
the lettuce. (remind me to tell you what I discovered about chicharrones)

Kamille
wouldn't oreos be fattier and therefore be more fattening? or is a 100 calories a 100 calories no matter what's in them?
Tangerina
same. Which weighs more, a ton of iron or a ton of feathers?
dropdeadlegs
They're equal in terms of "fattening."
Author Tony T
So which of the above posters do not have the courtesy to follow the directions in the lead post and follow along? So sad!
Kamille
yea but does the same hold true with nutriments? Are there different types of calories? Like if most of the calories come from carbohydrates, doesn't it actually takesa bit of energy from the body to convert them into fat, whereas if they come from fat, well, they are fat? Author Tony T
Congratulations to the first two people who answered. You are the only two who can actually follow directions. ANSWER: The lettuce is less fattening. Even though it had the same number of calories as the Oreo Cookies, lettuce contains no fat, no carbs and is mostly water. Lettuce would go through the system and wash right through leaving almost no fat on the body whereas Oreos go straight to your ass. Many thanks to the two above who played along, anyway. It could have been fun.
dropdeadlegs
So was the correct thing to do to pretend I don't know the difference between 100 calories and 100 calories, or just refrain from answering a trick question? I want to play fair next time! Honestly, I'm sorry if I spoiled your experiment, or your fun.

Kamille
I've never been really good at following directions... mma... makes me creative. I'll still manage to sleep tonight, despite being chastised by TT.
Touche
I think a cup of coffee is less fattening.
quankanne
now where's my cookie, dang it? )~ I focused on the words "cookie" and "lettuce" and immediately thought of all the water that's in lettuce (or so it seems). back to the chicharrones: surprised the hell out of me to learn that deep-fried pork skins have 0 grams of carbs! I figured with all the fat that they're fried in, they would be loaded with them, but nope.
amaysngrace
I think 100 calories is 100 calories. But the lettuce is roughage and burns more calories to digest than the cookies. Same thing with watermelon and cucumbers. They use more energy to burn then they actually contain. I think.
green-eyed beauty
You can totally still lose weight and have 100 calories of Oreos everyday if you want, however. The key is moderation.
Author Tony T
You can totally still lose weight and have 100 calories of Oreos everyday if you want, however. The key is moderation. Too many Oreos can be constipating. Then the poop adds extra weight. Then you have to take a laxative and blow it all out including water. Then you have to drink lots of water. Then you gain back water weight. Then you need to eat more Oreos to make up for it all.
green-eyed beauty
100 calories of Oreo a day won't make you constipated. That's only like...1 cookie?

Read my post again. I wrote: "Too many Oreo Cookies..." not 100 calories of Oreos.... Don't people read anymore or is everybody got their case of Bud next to them this late at night? P.S. Each regular size Oreo Cookie is 50 calories.

I was focusing on the actual topic which was 100 calories of Oreos. I realize that eating "too many" Oreos could cause issues in many ways, if done over a period of time. But...you initiated this topic focusing on 100 calories of Oreos, so I didn't want to go off-topic. And no, I wasn't drinking last night.

OF COURSE the lettuce is less fattening!! And speaking of going “straight to your ass” ... so does lettuce. The only difference is that eating 100 calories worth of iceburg will turn you into a human salad shooter ... thus flushing all calories from your system, anyway.

To eat 100 calories of lettuce would be quite a feat.. since one good sized leaf is 1 calorie then you would need to eat 100 good sized leaves. If there are approximately 30 leaves in a head of lettuce ( a total guess as I really have no idea how many leaves are in a head of lettuce ) then one would have to eat approx 3 heads of lettuce to equal 2 Oreo cookies..
