Is it too late for a teenager (like myself) who is at a certain age (after 15) to grow taller? Can lots of exercise (jogging, running, biking, etc) make you grow taller? Can milk be a contribution?

Unfortunately BlueSoul, the height you will grow to has been predetermined by your genes, so milk and exercise will not help.

However, if you are only 16, you probably haven't quite finished growing yet, so there is hope.

Relax.....

Are you specifying ages after 19? cus I was only talking about whether you can grow taller between 15-19. Currently I'm 17.

I don't really know Bluesoul I am not a doctor. Why don't you look it up?

I DO know you won't grow taller from exercising and drinking milk, and at 17 you should know that, what do they teach you at school these days?

Well I don't just come here and rely on comments, I also look it up myself with search engines to find out more. I do this is to gather information.

I don't think this has any medical merit, but don't smoke, this apparently stunts your growth.

Yeah you will grow a little at least ---- I was 16.5 about 16 and 6 mounts - I was about 5.4 and by the time about 18 I am now one foot taller 6.4 and it kinna sucks LOL.

I mean everyone's body is different and that stuff about exercise is completely not true because I was fat when I was short and suddenly I pulled up from being 16 to 18 and that weight distributed through my body so I am not fat any more. The thing is you can never forse yourself to grow doesn't really work out all that you can do it is try to have healthy foods and have plenty of energy.

Eating healthy is usually about 8 to 10 times a day but in small portions so it can keep body's metabolism up also you can go play sports - dont just do it for the hell of the exersice it getts really boaring instead just have fun and you will get taller --- by the way how tall are you- if you want to become the basketball star it propbably will not happen Not many people get to be basketball stars

:)

Well I'm 17 years old and about 168cm in height. When I was early 16 I was about 5 foot 4, and started to do some running/jogging everyday for two months. Afterwards I grew 2 inches tall. My friend said that I've grown a bit in class and checked my height when measuring myself.

Ohhhh...why can't you be happy with your height.

At least your pants will fit and not drag like mine do. Kind of looks like I have no feet.

, I get you. From my point of view, 5'7 is the least of a height to be considered as tall. Look at ryan cabrera, he's 5'7, and when I first saw him I thought he was like 5'9.

Height matters a lot when it comes to women. There is no sense in denying it.

That's true for many women, but not for me and many others I know. My ex is 5'6" and I never thought twice about his height. He's never had a problem finding love, as far as I can tell.

Good news for you all.

Dennis Rodman grew from 6'2" to 6'8" in University, so does Scottie Pippen, so does Charels Barkley.

Michael Jordan grew from 6'1" to 6'4" in High School, after he got cut.

And Jordan's late father are not that tall either....

168cm???? thats a good height.

I had a growth spurt at 17 and ended up at 172cm. i was always the littlest in the school photo before that - you know- on the end and all.....

My mum always pumped milk into me- i think I had to have a glass a night and pretty much i remember that being til i was about 13, and then after that i loved it so much i just kept drinking it. I mean even now, I drink heaps of milk, and i drink it everyday. I love the stuff, but keep that soy crap away from me.

I don't know how much milk had to do with it, because I ended up being the same height as my dad, so maybe it is just genes. But then again my mum was really short.

Blue it is funny that you should mention this! I am a 38 year old man. Last night I was going through some old papers and found my receipt for my restricted driver's license. I got it when I was 15. On the receipt it said I was 5' 5"... I am now 5' 10".... so as you can see I grew another 5" after 15. So it is still possible, taking into consideration you genes, for additional growth.

Well, I don't know for sure if milk is why ... but my sons are both 6'5" and I am only 5'5" and their dad is only 5'8".

I swear they got to be that tall from drinking lots of WHOLE milk. They were also very atheletic and always cleaned their plates.

I am 5 inches taller than my sister and I will swear it's because I drank ton's of milk growing up and she wouldn't touch it.

DRINK YOUR MILK!!!:)

All the guys I knew in high school grew tremendously AFTER graduation. It was weird. They'd be like 5'6''-5'8'' or so, and shoot up to 6'-6'4''! So I think there's still tons of time left to grow.

It's my understanding that very little will help you grow taller, but things like drugs and steroids and smoking can and do STUNT your growth, so avoid those things.

Wow! That's unusual - are your parents, or their dad's parents tall?

To the OP: how tall are your own parents, and/or how tall are other members of your extended family? I would think that's a much greater indicator of how tall you might eventually get than any of this stuff about exercising more, drinking more milk.

My height comes entirely from my dad's side of the family - my mom is 5'5", Dad is 6'6"; Dad's mom was 6' tall and his dad was over 6'. (I am 5'9.5" and my sisters are 5'8" and 5'9".)

All I can tell you what my husband, brother and 3 boys did. My husband and brother over the age 50 all grew about 10 inches in their first year of college. My boys 25,24,22 grew at difference rates, but all of them grew in their senior year or junior year, with my younger being the slowest. My youngest even added an inch to his height after age 20. Boys grows up to age 22 while girls are pretty close to their height at 13 or 12.

Milk always helps to make strong bones, which is very important in growth height. At you time, we were going thur 8 gallons a week. Your genes will also make a big different, but exercise and a healthy lifestyle always will promote growth vs not. Smoking and alchol with also stump growth if used in excess. Smoking being the worse. Hope this helps.

I'm no giant, but I've always been one of the taller kids. I'm now 18 and stand half a hair from 6'3"

Most of my growing took place when I was 12. I went from 5'2" to 5'9" in about 9 very painful months! I've had pretty slow growth from then.

My dad is 5'10", mom's 5'7". so my parents are a bit taller than average.

My dad is an English immigrant and my mom is pure Norwegian in heritage. Both are taller populations.

My two older half brothers are around 6'5" and they only reached that in their early 20's. Men typically stop growing 100% when they're 21. You've still got a few years.

I'm going to tell you what everyone else has! Eat all of your meals, drink lots of milk, and exercise!

I think a good diet and exercise CAN have an impact on your height. Look at people in other countries (China comes to mind). Chinese living in China are several inches shorter, on average, than Chinese living in the US and Canada, presumably due to differences in lifestyle.

I am evidence of this. My parents are 5'3 and 5'7. I'm 5'8 and a girl. My brother is 5'9.5 and, at 17, still growing. We grew up in the US on nutritious diets, swimming 4 days a week on the local team. My parents grew up in the former soviet union without much of anything.

If you're a boy I defintiely think you have some growth left, especially if you were late to hit puberty. I didn't stop growing until I was 18. My brother, who is 17 right now, is taller every time I see him.

Oh and the most important thing is to accept yourself for how you are =). You might grow, you might not, but you'll need confidence to succeed. There will always be somethng about yourself that you will want to change, but it's important to remember that those very same things make you you, and you gotta love you or no one else will either.
