spookie
My ex of 3 years broke it off with me about 2 months ago for several vague reasons I never got a chance to fully understand. I think the core of his problem, though, was that I was too dependent on him for my happiness, which I admit was true. We were already on our second chance and I knew how to handle the situation, so instead of the typical crying/begging/insisting I've changed routine I told him I understood and wanted space also. Then I stopped contacting him, though I still picked up sometimes when he called and, after a couple of weeks, occasionally hung out (and, admitedly, hooked up) with him. I also dated other guys. Well, about a week ago I left to go home to another state for three months. Before I left, he insisted on helping me move out of my apartment, insisted that I not worry about cleaning anything up so that I could enjoy my last day (he went back to my place the day after and vacuumed, cleaned my bathroom, and repainted my cabinets), and took me to the airport, where he whispered that he loved me. I've been here for a week and he has called me every single day. There doens't seem to be a particular reason for his calls, it just seems he wants to chat. He hasn't brought up getting back together or said the L word again. I don't know what to make of his behaivior and I want advice in how I should proceed. Should I keep the conversations short so that he misses me more, or try to connect with him over the phone? I do still love him and would consider getting back together if I was sure he was after me for the right reasons and he somehow proved his sincerity in wanting to make it work, but I am wary because he has already left me twice.
