hotgurl
My life is pretty good but there are some things I would like to change mainly getting a better paying job. A month or so ago I saw an ad in the paper that would work nicely for me. And I didn't apply. I didn't really even try. So yesterday I saw an advertisement for a job that I would nail. It's perfect and I have all the qualifications but I an afraid to apply. I have never never been this way. I can handle rejection it doesn't bother me to get turned down for a job. I am good at what I do and am pretty confident. Plus I give a pretty decent interview. So what is up with this fear stopping me. Maybe it's having the house or being in a good stable place for the first time is about 10 years. What the hell. I have no idea where this came form or what to do about it. Obviously I am going to make myself apply for the job. But I have never been this way, fearful.
whichwayisup
It's fear of success, fear of doing something new and not being in a safe and familiar place like you are now with your current job. Apply for the job, you have nothing to lose! I mean, if you get it, this could be an amazing opportunity to make more money, be happier and excell in life. Don't be like me and let your fears hold you back in life. Just trust me on this one............
quankanne
"she gives good interview" :D:D don't know what that makes me laugh ... okay, my take on it? Maybe it's not fear so much as it is uncertainty about leaving a sure situation for something new, especially if you've carved your niche someplace.

polywog
Advice from me, the crowned Queen of fear of success.... Fake it, pretend you're someone else, and go for it! If you get it and don't want it, just turn it down. Bunnies for courgage...:bunny:!!!
Author hotgurl
I know it is just weird for me because I have always been fairly successful at what I want to do. The goals I have set for myself I have always mett. I graduated college in 3 1/2 years while taking care of my daughter and working. I had a failry high GPA. I secured a job in my field soon after graduation. And moved up fairly quickly. I bought a house. Lost 30 pounds. Got accepted to grad school. I basically applied on a whim. I guess it is just that this job is kinda cushy I can do what I want no one really questions me. I can leave early if I need to. It is just a dead end job and not that well paying. I will still go for it I think i have become complacent where I am at.

2sunny
just try - you would only be mad at yourself for NOT even trying to pursue a better option. whether it works out or not remains to be seen - but - you gotta try.

Art_Critic
Part of your fear will immediately disappear if you just force yourself to apply. Making the step forward is the hardest part but once you do it you think to yourself how easy it really was. Make the call...
Author hotgurl
Ok so my resume is updated and ready to go the next part is a little harder. I have to pick three pieces of my work to send in. The position is for a senior graphic designer. My job now is advertising manager. From the job desicription it seems like I would be in charge of a team of designers. I checked the co out and they make brochures for healthy clinics etc.. Basically thoose brochures you get like so you have herpes. Or how to quit smoking. etc...etc... I was going to include a billboard I did. and an ad to show that I can handle not only image concept peices but pieces that require a lot of information to be crammed in a little space. The other options are to include picts of a truck that I designed (I did the graphics that are on the truck) or a bag I designed and drew in illustrator. I have some hat logos but as of yet these have not been used. I did a brochure but it is kinda lame. what do you think?
Art_Critic
If you have any more logos or graphics that look like logos that would help... A brochure is always going to have little graphics that change all the time. Other than that I think it sounds great.. Go For It !
