knaveman
So, allow me to take a moment to gloat...July 4,2007 will be my one year anniversary of NOT SMOKING!!! One whole year, cold turkey, and I haven't so much as touched a cigarette. Now...how should I celebrate? I was thinking hookers and cocaine. Kidding. Seriously, what should I do, I have never had an anniversary of any kind before. I'm at a loss. Perhaps I'll smoke on it. Kidding again. HA! I'm full of jokes. No really. Humor me. This_Too_Shall_Pass
The simplest thing would be to get drunk. Other LSers will be able to provide more elaborate suggestions, I'm sure. But wait - you abide by Buddhism principles, right? And there you have the answer - choose the path of moderation. Which means you sit home and watch TV. By the way, congratulations on the non-smoking anniversary. Hope there are many more to come.
Author knaveman
Thankyou very much for the kind words. Yes, there will be many more smoking anniversaries at least. I'm not Buddhist, I'm just begining to learn about it and so far I like it. Besides, wouldn't the path of moderation be only getting moderatly drunk? I sit on the couch and watch TV too much as it is.

I do it mostly because I want more perspective on what kind of person I am, the path I have ended up on, and how to make the most of it. I'm trying to use those principles to be more patient and more logical in my thinking. And the best part is that in the end, I still get to think and do what I want. On second thoughts, chuck the moderation idea for the anniversary. You've behaved enough for one year.

Imagine all the money you saved...so if I were you, I would treat myself to something nice... I don,t know what you like...but get yourself a 'gift'... I also quit 'cold turkey' on Aug. 31st, 1993... and my 'gift' for quitting was a full body transformation... my hair changed.. (double its volume), my skin... etc... imagine the benefits... I gained about 16 lbs the first year...but it took a year and a half to lose 29 lbs.. after that... and my whole body changed (shape)... I am sooo happy I quit... if I would have known ...I would have quit much earlier. LOL A hooker is not a bad idea...

Buddism looks exactly like what I have been looking for, except for that whole not drinking thing. Ah well, we can't all be perfect. I too am trying to find out more about myself and seriously hope all ends well. I haven't found a group to study with and don't really know if I want to. I like the whole individual aspect. If you want to share thoughts on all of it however...sometimes I do need to talk my thoughts out.

My gift will most likely be explosives and beer(July 4Th and all) I don't know how much weight I gained but I have a beer gut now that I am trying to rid myself of. But I do feel great at long last. I too have changed my body, hopefull for the better. I should have quit when I was twenty, the first time I really tried.
