masaki1085
This story may belong in Cheating/Jealousy/Flirting, but I'm not sure... it kind of fits in here too, I suppose (because I'm still "in search of...") I think this girl at work has a thing for me.... We often talk to each other A LOT whenever we work with each other. I should rephrase that: she always seems to be finding reasons to be talking with me. However, she is already in a relationship--however, I found out as of late that this relationship is in trouble. As she explains to me (and she's told me quite a bit about her situation): She has been dating a fellow for about 5 years now, and recently moved here from across the country. This guy she's dating has been married before, and after a about a half a year of being here, the woman who this guy was formerly married to followed her here from across the country, too. Weird. So this other woman has been getting in touch with this guy secretly and stalking him for the past several months--he hasn't cheated on the girl I've been mentioning, however (as far as she knows, anyhow). The girl from work JUST found out that this other woman moved here--she feels that her trust in the guy she's been seeing has been totally shot. While this guy pledges his romantic interest to the girl I speak of, she is refusing to talk to him until he gets a restraining order for his ex-wife (which I guess he's very hesitant about doing, from what I understand). ANYWAY... She unloaded this story on me, but, as I mentioned, she also talks to me about totally random things as if she is trying to find reasons to talk to me. And I notice that its me moreso than other employees. And she likes to get close when talking, within my personal space. And she doesn't just talk about her relationship problems. I recently got a full-time job in my career, and my job begins in August. I recently broke this news at my current job. She left a comment on my myspace: "Now that you have a full time job am I ever going to work with you again? : (" I'm not that close to this girl at this point. I just talk to her often at work. But as far as where I stand... I am totally crushing this girl. I think this girl is really cute and she seems really cool. If she was single, I would TOTALLY want to date her. I enjoy our conversations at work. We have many interests in common. And who knows, she may be single soon... What would you do in this situation? Would you try to take advantage of the situation of a seemingly broken relationship, especially if the girl seems interested or sending off signs? Would you try and move in on the situation? Would you hold off to wait and see? Or is this a red flag--possibly a reaction of her failing relationship to get close to another guy... especially one that listens to her issues? Should I be cautious? Thanks!
Chingy
Dear Pal, First, DO NOT intend to take advantage of the seemingly shaky relationship! That is simply morally wrong. Remember that please. Also, please keep note of gender communication. Females are different beings from males, and because of this difference, misinterpretations often arises. Take for example, when you state that the woman sometimes gets in your "personal space" when speaking with you. For you, it's a sign of potential interest but for her, it is possible that she is doing it out of her notion of "friendliness". So beware of the gender differences. The best thing to do, from my perspective, is just wait and see how things turn out for her. If, at the end of the day, she announces to you that her relationship with the other man has ended, then there comes your opportunity. Otherwise, I believe it best for the both of you if you just keep a reasonable distance. Hope that helps some how, and good luck to you.
