oppath
While I want to actually start doing more masculine things and integrating masculine energy into my life, 350 million Budhists can't be wrong, right? My mind races, ruminates, part of being depressed. I'm hung up on an ex from several months ago, still living in the past. Honestly, sometimes looking at LS just makes me think about dating/relationships too much. I've started meditation, though I need to go to a class to truly learn. I'm going on an LS hiatus for 1 week, and won't miss a session for the entire week. I'll report back to tell how it's gone and if I'm less anxious and more calm.
whichwayisup
Let me know how things go when you're back! Well, I'll check back when I'm back from my holidays, I leave next weekend... I have a friend and a cousin who both go on Buddhist retreats, and both say they benefit from it alot. Go learn, relax and become ZEN.
This_Too_Shall_Pass
While I want to actually start doing more masculine things and integrating masculine energy into my life, 350 million Budhists can't be wrong, right? My mind races, ruminates, part of being depressed. I'm hung up on an ex from several months ago, still living in the past. Honestly, sometimes looking at LS just makes me think about dating/relationships too much. I've started meditation, though I need to go to a class to truly learn. I'm going on an LS hiatus for 1 week, and won't miss a session for the entire week. I'll report back to tell how it's gone and if I'm less anxious and more calm. I'm not a Buddhist, or even a particularly religious person; but the reason I find its philosophies interesting is because they emphasize mental strength. Even Hinduism does that, in it's purest form. I'm not a "meditation" sort of person, maybe I'm too impatient for that. But I've found that losing yourself into something completely - so that your mental facilities are not free to think about other things than the task at hand - is equally helpful. If you go to the gym/play an outdoor game/solve a crossword puzzle, you won't have much space left in your mind to think unpleasant thoughts. That's akin to meditation. Of course, I hope you do get a lot out of your meditation class. These are just suggestions that I think may be of some use, when you're not meditating. Taking a LS hiatus is a good idea. While LS is a great place to let out your feelings, it can make you "stuck" on your problem even more. Besides, it's easy to let LS become the cornerstone of your life - and sometimes people try so hard to build an identity here, they forget that they actually exist offline, too. Good luck with it all, let us know how it went.
knaveman
I agree with the whole meditation thing. Great idea. The whole masculine thing seems to be a bit off to me. What exactly makes one "more masculine?" Everything else sounds spot on.
Pink Amulet
I on the other hand get little girly thrills when talk of masculine type activities arises
Geishawhelk
Sorry, ignorant English person, here...What is "LS"? But at least I AM Buddhist....
disgracian
Meditation is definitely best performed under guidance at first. I'm interested to get back on the bandwagon after my final exam this Wednesday. I have nearly a whole month to contemplate my level of involvement with Buddhism and figure out just how compatible we are. Cheers, D.
