First off I am 5'2, 125lbs and a 40DD, I am thinking about a breast reduction....I am really not sure....I have thought about it on and off for the past couple of years.

All the medical reasons for having one make sence, but I have been this size since I was 12 or 13 and they are part of me and I guess there is part of me that is reluctant to change that.

I have talked to my H many times about it and he always says "I love you the way you are" and "it is up to you" and that "I think you would look really good a bit smaller too". I know that there is part of him that would like me to do it and I worry that that is why I am wanting it and if I do it I want it to be for me not him.

I worry about regreting it, I can't get them back if I change my mind after lol but then I think of all the clothes I could wear that would fit properly and I can't see myself regreting it on the other hand you can lose nipple sensation ect and I am really not sure how I would feel about that lol I don't have to worry about the loseing the ability to breast feed as I have already brestfed 3 babies and I can't have any more (nor do I really want anymore lol)

I guess I am just confused hehe.

I am wondering if anyone eles here has ever had it done and what their experiances were with it? And I guess I am just looking for peoples opinions in general as I try to figure out wether or not to take this to the next step.

am also looking into this, mostly because of back problems. I'm overweight, but then again, I've always been disproportionally top-heavy, and I know that time and gravity are not going to be kind.

husband is supportive of this move, because he knows what I have to deal with lugging these things around.

there's a really good breast reduction board on line, can't remember the name of it, but you can do a search. There are a lot of good ideas of things to look into (does your insurance cover it? How do you go about finding a doctor? What will you need for the surgery?) as well as cautionary information and sharing of post-surgery problems. I haven't looked there in awhile, but I do know that it's a VERY supportive community.

you don't mention your age, but let me add this: I've been a C cup (and larger) since I was 14, and as you age it doesn't get easier. While it's nice to have a curvy figure, it's even better on your health to be proportionate to what your spine can handle. If you drop down two cup sizes, I imagine you'd still be curvy, but not have any problems that go with the looks.

I've got wide hips, but I also have broad shoulders, so I know I can get away with a B cup and still look "curvy" ...

Of course your hubby says,"I love you just the way you are". I would too if there were 42DD's standing in front of me.... I'm suprised he didn't say, "Honey I am in heaven".

Thanks, I will look for that board. I am 29, and mine already sag :( they alwasy sort of have, but definatly more so now. I don't have to worry about cost as here in Canada I can get a reduction for free for medical reasons.

I would never ever get a breast reduction unless my breasts cause me back pain...and they don't or if the shape wasn't nice... like a 'pear shape' ...

I am a 38DD and petite too... I love my breasts... they have a nice shape, are still perky, they don't sag at all... I am quite lucky, good genes I guess...

The only time I wish I had smaller breasts is when I like a piece of clothes and it doesn't look good because my breasts are too big... but on the other hand...they look great in lingerie...so I guess I'll keep my jewels. :D

Your lucky!! Mine have never been perky, and now they are more pear shaped...

I do have pain in my shoulders and I know it is cause form them and I know that would be a benfit, but I guess I struggle with doing it cause my reasons for having it done are cosmetic and I am not sure how I feel about that....

you and only you can make that decision... if you're not sure about it... just wait... don't go for it...

You got to be verrry sure about this...there is no 'return policy'.

Assuming she has the surgery and doesn't like it... could she not wait a little while to heal and then get regular implants?

I say go for it. You can always re-bigulate yourself.

that's always a possibility I suppose... but I would hate fake boobs... and even those are not guaranteed... I've seen really weird looking fake boobs.

Forgive me for going slightly off-topic for a moment ;)

Down here in the states, there's a lot of discussion about the Micheal Moore film "Sicko" and his utopian portrayal of the Canadian health care system.

Since having big boobs is hardly a life-threatening condition, how long would you have to wait once you sign up for the surgury?

don't kid yourself – big boobs might not be life-threatening (unless someone's trying to slap you around with them), but they can cause health problems: back problems, unnecessary stress to your muscles, smothering you when you lay on your back … while they look nice, they are more of a problem than not.

OP: Re-bigulate? :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I'll have to remember that word, work it into my vocabulary ...

probably the nicest thing going for women who have average to smaller sized breasts is the lingerie that help you lift and create a fuller busom without having to suffer through the excess flesh or pain from bras with underwires that cut into you.:sick::sick:

I do realize that I can't get them back that is why I am taking my time making my decision. And yes I guess I could get fake ones but I NEVER would so I need to be happy with what I choose ;)

Here I could wait up to a year for the actual surgery after everything was finalized, but for me I don't mind as it isn't life threating and if I had to pay for it I wouldn't even be considering it cause I can't afford it.

I have decided to make a consult appointment and go from there.

Regarding my off-topic tangent: critics of Michael Moore are pointing out that Canadians with painful but not life-threatening conditions like rotator cuff injuries in the shoulder often have to wait a year or more for corrective surgury. I'm aware that very large breasts can cause health issues, but I'm guessing they're usually not as debiltating as joint injuries.

Your right but you also have to realize the wait also has to do with what/who you are going to. If your waiting for a knee specialist that just about everyone in the province with a knee problem is waiting to see, then yes you will wait. My MIL just had knee replacment surgery and my FIL had corna surgery they were both told they may have to wait up to a year, hers was done 7 months later and his 2 months later many people do have to wait longer but like I said it also depends on who your going to see and what type of surgery your having ( the demand for that surgery )

I would be going to a plastic surgen and so it would depend on their 'demand' at the time and their facility, many PS have their own hospital like facility.

Oh and also the other thing about waiting is you ussaly have to wait for your first appointment anywhere form a month to 3 months but after you have gotten your first appointment then you are 'with' them and it goes quicker after that.

My daughter sees a pediatric pychcatrist and he is the head of a speciality clinic for all of alberta it took us almost 6 months to get into him but now for a regular check up I phone a month in advance and I usaally have little problem getting an appointment to fit my schedual and if there was an emergancy I would be able to see him within 48hrs (depending on the emergancy)
