"I Love You" vs. "I Care A Lot About You"

To me, 'I care about you' is more specific that 'Love', because I think what love means is different for everyone.

 

The caring part I think is easier to prove because if someone cares about you they will be there when you need them, listen to you when need to vent and not judge, etc.

Your sister has issues if she still needed a guy from years back to tell her he loved her at the time. It doesn't sound as if she's happy in her marriage at all if what this ex thought about her at the time , if he "loved" her or not...something's not right, she should just be happy things turned out the way they did and she found a guy who really did love her enough to marry her.
