Balalaika
.... how long this spaced out, light headed feeling lasts.... coz I cannot think straight at all. Feels like my mind is floating and my body is trying to catch up to it. I realise this feeling is caused by the hit of oxygen entering my system again (bye bye carbon monoxide), and I realise everyone is different, but am wondering how long this stage lasted from those of you who've been there and done that. Cheers in advance for your replies!
Tom725
I quit after smoking for 20 years.....I wont lie its hard has hell and it will get a little harder. It took about a week for things to deminish....but with that being said its worth it. Stick to it, I know its hard. Just remember no matter how hard it gets DONT smoke! It will get better, trust me. You just have to be strong and not give in....If it were easy no one would smoke...but you can do it. Just tell yourself you will and dont give in. Give it a week and you will feel great about yourself
stillafool
I quit for 3 years once but sadly went back. I am going to stop again next week. I am so proud of you for quitting. Don't start back no matter what. Think about the 2 days you already have invested. The money you've already begun to save. (BTW, get a jar and start depositing that money in there everyday and that will help keep you off the cigs). Also think about how your body is already on it's way to recovery from the damage. You don't have that stinking smell on your cloths and mouth anymore. I remember the feeling you are talking about from when I quit before. You feel so lightheaded you wonder if you are going to faint and you really don't feel like yourself. Well that feeling lasted about 1-1/2 days and went away. You will feel better after you eat. Another tip is to brush your teeth after each meal. The freshness of you mouth will make you not want a cig. It really works. Drinking orange juice instead of coffee really helps in the morning if you can. If you drink coffee then brush your teeth afterwards to take away the desire to smoke. Good Luck to you. Lizzie60
It will pass... don't worry... your system is getting adjusted to the new breaths of 'fresh air'... LOL I quit on Aug. 31, 1993...so it will be 14 years at the end of this month... If I would have known I would have quit much sooner... It actually changed my life... for the best... I quit 'cold turkey' but I have to say that I only missed the first smoke after that, the next morning... that's the only craving I had... but I said, at the time, one day at a time... and it was really easy after. It changed my whole body... my hair, my skin.... everything... for the best, trust me... I discovered a new 'me' 2 years later.... after my weight gain, then the weight loss... it was all good... This is the best decision you'll make in your life... trust me on that one... Good luck! Be strong! You can do it!!!
Tom725
I agree quitting cold turkey is the only way......at least for me. I found that any other way is just basically not letting go and makes it more frustrating
