Any women here get along with their mother in law?

Well, my situation is different as my MIL had Alzheimer's disease, she died last year but during the past 13 years, she didn't know who her own son was, let alone who I was.

 

I've always had mixed feelings about it, I never had to put up with the weird dynamtic between MIL/DIL crap, but with that being said, I feel I missed out on a friendship as well. I'm very easy to get along with and I'm not one of those women who have ego/have to be right attitudes, and apparently she was a lovely, kind woman, so thinking about it now, I doubt we'd have any real problems if she were still alive and didn't have Alzheimer's.

I love my motehr in law....she is the bomb.....loves me more than her son most of the time !

I know I am a man but I love my MIL. She is an old hippie that loves everybody and everything. She's a little out there sometimes but she is one of the most kindhearted people I have met. My FIL is pretty much the same way.

That's so cool Woggle! I know that older hippie type. Genuine and honest right to the bone. I bet they're both full of some good stories too!

My boyfriend's mother is like that too. I love her so much! Granted, she isn't my mother in law - but she likely will be someday. My own mother, on the other hand, is needy, dramatic, and emotionally manipulative - can't stand the woman!
