Kamille
I decided at the beginning of the summer that I was going to try and wax only, for the whole summer (legs, armpits and bikini area). It was great because I got less and less hairy all over. But last weekend while I was at a friend's beach house I resorted to a quick shave. Holy schmokes! The hair has returned to it's original density in one shave! I am befuddled. I really don't get the science of body hair. It's waxing for me from now on. And no. There isn't much drama in my life. I like to sit back, drink san pelligreno and write about body hair.
tanbark813
The explanation I read somewhere is that when you shave you cut the hair off at the surface so when it grows in the top of it is the same diameter as the rest of the hair; it's cylindrical on top. Whereas when you wax, you're pulling the hair completely out so when it grows in the hair is starting fresh. As such, it comes to a thin point on top. That's why it appears denser when shaving versus waxing.
Trialbyfire
Waxing FTW!! It lasts longer and leaves your skin soooo smooth.
Ocean-Blue
I'd love to wax but am too scared of burning myself (or not getting all the hair). Plus, you have to wait to get the hair long enough to wax... But the prospect of having uber soft skin is oh so tempting. Anyone try a Brazilian wax? What was it like? I need to get rid of my razor...
Lizzie60
just shaving...I have hardly any hair on my legs and armpits... so once every 1-2 month. my genitals, every day... in the shower... with hair conditioner (thick), it leaves the skin soooo smooth... I like it better than shaving cream.
Mustang Sally
I do the "modified" brazilian (that's what my wax-lady calls it). Meaning the whole area 'cept for a triangular landing strip. It's not that bad to have done, if you are wondering about discomfort. Not even the perianal area. And the smootheness, etc, is worth it, in my humble opinion. She puts on this tingly lotion to the "areas" after the waxing that feels really cool and slick for the rest of the afternoon....yummy!
directx
Ok, I tried downloading a modern porn movie and i got an 80's one instead. I really really enjoyed it because the stars had hair! It wasn't a forest, mind you. But it was real. It was so refreshing to see, I loved it! I hope it comes back Anyway, I like using Veet! That stuff rocks. Just a cream you put on, wait 3 minutes, and scrape off.
IpAncA
just shaving...I have hardly any hair on my legs and armpits... so once every 1-2 month. That must be nice. I have to shave my legs like every 4-5 days just to keep them smooth. It sucks. Screw this I'm getting laser done on my whole body. No more hair anywhere. No more problems...moving on.... About a year ago I started using an epilator. I absolutely LOVE it. Very easy to use and lasts just as long as wax. I could never do the wax myself successfully and I'm too lazy/shy to go to a salon. Let the professionals do their job. After the first time, you lose your shyness.

With dull blades that number goes way down. I hate having hair like that and it's just well... We're women, were not suppost to have hair except our head. I'm being punished. I had patches on my legs where hair wouldn't grow anymore and now, one shave and they're all back. Feels like I watered the garden or something. But maybe it's just because the blade exfoliated my skin and the hair is finally running wild and free. Thanks tanbark! Now I can think about something other then hair growth. I like it better than shaving cream. Waxing has really changed the quality of my pubic hair for the better. I have a relationship to hair in that area like men with facial hair. I like to mix it up a little. And conditionner works wonders on the area.
