wreckedhorse Posted August 29, 2007 Share Posted August 29, 2007 this happened a few years ago. right after my parents left for a different country, (mind you we barely talked at all, even in the same household, before this momentus occasion). she started calling me every day for a whole semester during my freshman year of college. even when i told her that i was busy and i needed to go, she gave me an attitude, "i haven't called you in how many days now?" and then when i reminded her it was finals week, she was like oh hehe ok. our conversations were like 90% awkward silence, too. she never asked how i was and it was just to dump her issues on me, or not. by the way, she's 26 now and i'm 22. now it's happening again all because she's single. we've had trouble establishing boundaries. she's super sensitive but can't seem to understand other people's needs or interpret their actions or reactions in any sort of mature fashion, a lot of the time. i have to approach things so carefully and even when i do, it turns into a ****fest. but i just have to accept that i can't control how she's going to react. yeah, it's a frustrating experience especially because i know how lonely she is, but damnit, i need/have my own life. she cries and throws a fit and a scene whenever i try to tell her that she relies on me for sole support and it's not healthy for either of us and it makes me feel smothered. ok, so i need some advice and maybe someone who has gone through something like this to tell me what their experience was like. this is really frustrating for me and i can have a tendency to be blunt and condescending towards her, so i need to really think about this and think of what it is i need to say. we eat dinner once a week, maybe that needs to stop. she has sent me three calls, two text messages in the last three days. so i finally said ok why are you calling me everyday and she goes, well i haven't talked to you in forever! and i said, um i saw you last wednesday. and she goes, well i went away to new jersey so it feels like a lot longer! LIKE I AM NOT DATING YOU DAMN. HELP how should i establish a healthy boundary. what does sisterhood entail? Link to post Share on other sites
