Interview presentation?!?!

Recommended Posts

hi!! I have an interview this week for a consulting/sales position.. for the final interview, they've asked me to prepare a presenation on any product to sell... and then they will follow up with questions, and probably try to tell me they are not interested, and test how i can convince them and support the product.

They've basically told me to sell them any product! And i am having a reallyyyy hard time coming up with something to sell.. i will be presenting to about 3 middle aged men :S...

does anyone have any ideas for me?!?!??! I am trying to think of something they could use in the office... so i can try to push the benefits it will have to all the employees...

as it goes for all interviews - you are marketing/selling yourself, qualifications, and capabilities to interviewer.

If you dont have enough time to think of a good product or argument, I say fake it till you make it on the interview. Sometimes over thinking will make things worse (like nervousness), just do what you do best and go with the flow on the interview and answer as best you can. At least you know you gave it your all.

Good luck

I like the sports car idea!

I would also suggest selling a membership in a new golf course. Middle aged white guy sales/consulting guys love golf, it's a place they can take their clients, and there are snacks/beverages all along the (presumably fabulous) course. It's really easy to sell, and you can offer all kinds of incentives to make a sale - free lessons with golf pros, a membership card that entitles them to free food/beverages at the snack stands, discounts at the pro shop, x number of preferred tee times, a spa at the club for their wives (so they don't get pissed at how much time they spend playing golf), invitation to meet Tiger Woods at their annual pro-am event, a free dinner each quarter for the member and his foursome at the club restaurant with world renowned chef...

Or you can fall back on something you have sold in the past and know inside out. Presumably you have some sales experience at something you know really well?

Good one nj. They do love golf. Even though there's a rule about not talking business on the chichi private courses, they all still do.

If you want to make it difficult and inject a sense of humour into the interview, make the golf course/club membership based out of Saudi Arabia, in the Sahara desert.
