Actually maybe I will put a Elvis in the manger this year

Doing that has always worked out well for me.

Dead fat Elvis is not in the holiday spirit.

No, but all the same I always place one at the head of the table. It's sensible and responsible to remind people of the risks they're taking, as they stuff their faces with turkey and Christmas pudding.

Are we being blasphemous, talking about Elvis in this way?

I don't know but I am rethinking my purchase of my "Elvis Toilet Seat".

Matching tissue caddy of course.

I am ok with my collection of Dead Bishops and Popes Halloween display -

perhaps my views are not correct?

I just thought it all went along with the rise from the dead theme - zombies, jesus, and throw in a few holy dudes for background out in the yard?

Perhaps the Mother Theresa decapitating the Pope display is a bit too much?

No, Dutchguy's original post in the stated purpose of his thread was atheist pride. The pride he derived from watching Zakiechan's youtube clip. I was just pointing out that he should check out the source of his pride before he began boasting about Zakiechan's youtube clips.

I can see your point, however, I think he was more rallying against religious zealotry and snobbery than saying he was proud to be an athiest...even though he made the stab at saying kinda makes one proud.

If a believer would have this kind of intellect it would definitely be seen as a gift from god,
That's exactly what I'm saying. These men in the video have been blessed with more that average intellect.
I just find it funny to see how these blessed people all don't believe in god.
Kind of, "foolish"......isn't it?
The omniscient god clearly had a dense moment when he dictated his view on atheism to the writers of the bible.
Not at all. When something is staring you right in the face, and you refuse to see it......that's what I call dense.....
I should have known that everything is offensive to believers, even a compilation of FACTS.
Biased facts......anything that's biased is usually offensive:rolleyes:
Well...does the good book say that or doesn't it?
Of course it does. But it doesn't mean in anyway that believers are going around calling these people fools......they simply are what they are.....according to Scripture. And yes, I will adhere to that.

Atheists call believers fools.....so why are you whining about it?

I don't find them bias at all.

The bible states that ALL atheists are fools: some atheist geniuses are shown.

The bible states that ALL atheist deeds are vile: some atheist philanthropists are shown.

The bible states that relationships that include god are stronger than others: a CHRISTIAN researcher found that atheists divorce less.

Bible quotes: Fact

People shown and their claimed accomplishments: Fact

Statistical numbers on crime and divorce: Fact.

You are referring to a commonly used survey by George Barna. He did this survey in 1999. But then it was discovered by someone (not Christian) that he has done his survey wrong. He has used atheists not married in his numbers for the total...hence atheists had a 21% divorce sompared to some (not all) Christian denominations as high as 34%. BTW, in that survey Catholics had a 21% divorce rate also...perhaps he included Monks? :D

Anyhow, in 2004, he did another survey. This time he used proper measurements. Guess what? Atheists had the same or more divorce rates as everyone else. I think Catholics were no lower than the previous survey.

So, here is just one example of many where "facts" are not facts. Priceless.

There are just as MANY believers who are also geniuses, but you don't see them in this video.....do you? Biased

The bible states that ALL atheist deeds are vile: some atheist philanthropists are shown. Not true. Read below - Biased

Look, you're gonna lose this one, so get over it.
Bible quotes: Fact
That's all I need to know.

Do me a favor, and read Psalms 14:1 again.....

"Only fools who say in their heart"

No man can know what's in another man's heart, or what it's condition is in.

Some athiests are misled, some aren't even sure what the term, "athiest" really is......does that make them fools? Think about it before you spout off again.....

Actually, the term atheist was first used for those who did not believe in the gods of Athens. So, when people say that Socrates was an atheist...he was, but he DID believe in a Higher Being....just not the Greek ones.

Guess who were called atheists? Ironically, the Christians were.

Now it is used for people who do not believe in any god. Crazy how semantics works.

I am not sure about the misled part. I think people who go against the grain of the "accepted" way think long and hard about it.

Of course the "accepted" way would depend on your location.

Here in the US if you tell people you don't believe in a god of any kind you do face negative reactions from believers.

I don't know why.

Well Moose perhaps it would be a good idea to preach that in the church instead of telling people to go out and recruit or act nasty toward those that don't believe. (not directed at you on a personal level, but might be a good idea to pass along)

Hell this happens to me at least on a weekly basis.

I honestly have told people I am a non practicing Jew so that way they don't continue to pester me about how I am so lost and need to go find a god....

I likely do more chairatable acts in a 24 hour period than most people do all year. Yet I am a stupid, lost, vile, and lack morals if you ask some of these people - simply because I do not believe in their gods.

Pathetic view to take IMHO.

They day you can prove the existence of "God" is the day you can claim victory.

Produce "him", and I'll be in church every Sunday.

I'm not out to claim, "victory", you are. You can't prove that He doesn'texist, do that first.....and I'll accomodate your request......:p

Do I have to explain EVERY little thing to you????!!!!!

"This one" = Arguement that the video is or is not BIASED.

To the brick wall: Look outside your window.....take a breath.....even when you fart.......that's all the proof you need.....

Moose you are sounding like those people that badger me about their god.

Why not just say..... "believe what you want, I am happy with what I believe-that is all that matters to me"

I truly mean that too...... if it works for you great - just know it doesn't work for me.

a4a beat me to it. I think if people believe in God, fine, if they don't fine. I don't think its right for others to try to get others to see things THEIR way, whatever way that might be. That would be an exhausting thing to do I would think. :)

I wasn't talking to you a4a. And normally, I do subscribe to the, "believe what you want" crowd because most have deaf ears anyway.

But when challenged, I will confront.

Now.....have you challenged me a4a? If you did......I didn't notice.....

Why not just take the high road and who cares what Joe believes - you believe and good for you.... isn't that what truly matters.....

Now pull my finger!
