You might just have hit upon something here...what do you think OP? Might the source of some of your issues lie here?

 

Also please think back to your toilet training. Many issues stem from trouble during that time. Did you try to control your potty training? I sure hope we can help you get to the bottom of this, OP.

The new methodology for potty training for boys is to toss cheerios into the potty and then it's up to the little boy to hit the cheerios. You make it a fun game instead of a negative experience.

 

OP, keep trying this for the next few months so it's always a positive experience. It may help to reroute bad pathways. A layman's suggestion since I'm no therapist. Good luck.

Yes, I've heard of that cheerio methodology. I hope my son doesn't have issues because I didn't make potty time into a game like that. Gosh, something else for me to worry about now. One day he'll be in his 30's and be posting on a forum about Dark Days to come. Oh god, what have I DONE?!?!

 

Maybe it's not too late though. You're right. I'm going out to get that box of cheerio's right now.

 

Oh and OP, it's worth a shot (so to speak). I mean what have you got to lose? This could very well be the answer for you.

 

And just curious but did your mother stand above you as you sat on the potty and say "Poop in the potty you bad, bad boy! Don't you ever make me wipe your ass again!" So did she?

Except that I withdraw from within relationships mostly, after I'm already quite a ways into them. I have no problem entering into them in the beginning. That might be more dishonest of me, in a way.
