Ocean-Blue
Depends on who you ask. My very Catholic ex had major hangups about it. I used to ask him straight out if he masturbated ("so...when was the last time you..."). Doing the deed made him feel very guilty. Me, I've never felt ashamed or guilty. It's interesting but some religions have differing views of male and female masturbation. Like some of the other posters have mentioned, if a male ejaculates anywhere OTHER than the vagina...well that's a sin. W/ the female orgasm...it's a bit different. I remember reading sections of the Catechism (particularly about oral sex). They don't state that OS is wrong...but it is if the guy does his thing anywhere but... The female however can have the O outside of the "union". To each her own.

The female however can have the O outside of the "union". To each her own. Many cultures do/did not accept mothers and "fallen" women as acceptable mates. It is sometimes said that Muslims are allowed four wives in order to give orphan women, unable to provide a dowry, and widows a chance at marriage and motherhood. Those Abrahamic religions which disagree with the Catholic position see the sin as the man disobeying God and not being a proper husband to his brother's widow. Instead of giving her the chance to be a mother and reach her greatest status he spilled his seed on the ground and that was his sin. The use other reasons to forbide masturbation most commenly it not the physical act but the lustful feelings needed for the physical actions to work which is the sin. disgracian
To say otherwise is to invoke the image of a magnificent, all-powerful, eternal celestial being that created the enormity of the universe and everything in it down to and beyond the microscopic level, who is supremely concerned with what you do with your own genitals. Cheers, D.

Faith4u
It is OK to masturbate but if you have a partner and masturbate as much or more than the times you are with your partner than it is NOT OK. Masturbation should be kept to the minimum because you want the person that you are with to excite you and learn what you like. If you give it to yourself, you will only master yourself not the other. I do believe that people who masterbate a lot can not please a woman. Now that is a topic to discuss! Faith4u
:oI have to explain what please means ( romantic touching making love and reaching orgasm). by the way, I am talking about men masturbation here. Masturbation, Cheating and simply thinking sexually (wanting) about another taken woman is a sin according to the Bible. Oh well, we are all going to hell than! What is hell anyways? Mustang Sally
Hahahah! I had lasik several months ago.... So I should be "paid up and in advance" for many more years, no? My opinion on the original question: No, not a sin (why the F*CK would God concern himself with the masturbatory practices of all these damn people???) - it's a GIFT. Learn it, Live it, LOOOOVE it. bigheartkindsoul
A sin - I certainly hope not - guessing I might be seeing a few of you in hell rather than heaven then, sure feels like i am going to heaven when I do it though!!!
brothermartin
A sin? No. Its a survival tactic! And people that say they never do it, run away from them! Just run away!!
