been dating a guy for a little past a month. relationship is progressing

albeit slowly but surely. just went on a short trip and wanted to bring

something back for him to show i was thinking of him. brought back a

cute plush stuffed animal. (he has everything already so didnt have any

better ideas.)

need guys' opinion on this. is the toy a little too much? is it cheesy?

when you receive a gift like this from a girl, do you thank them and then

toss the animal or do you keep it around?

my beau has every one of the ten animals i have given him (including the stuffed goofy hat from disney world) and he keeps them on a shelf next to our bed.

lol..lucky girl..he obviously loves you :)

im just wondering as this is a completely new relationship and he's the practical type.

we're not exclusive and im just trying to go with the flow. he's mid 30s so i wasnt sure if this was a cheesy gift or not.

Totally depends on the guy.

What do you know about this guy's tastes and preferences? Is he sentimental? Does he hold onto things that don't appear to have practical use because they're special to him?

thats the thing..he's a private person and practical. i just didnt know what to get him because the guy has everything already! didnt want to get a keychain or magnet because that's pretty useless. he's very classy so i figured a stuffed animal was cute but not too over the top. ive already gotten him one gift already that cost over $600. i thought this was a nice balance.

Personally I would appreciate any gift a girl gave me. But if/when we broke up I'd toss the stuffed animal (but I guess that could go for a lot of gifts).

Shot glasses are good, random gifts.

Nothing wrong with that IMO. Was he expecting a gift?

That shows you really do care for him. I would appreciate any gift that my GF brings me unexpectedily.

I think that's cute... I usually give stuffed animals to adults when they're in the hospital.. LOL

Maybe he'll sleep with it every night.. ;)

I vote cheesy.

When I was a teen, many moons ago, I gave my boyfriend a stuffed animal. Catch though was, it was a 'squeeze my belly' bear. Squeeze the belly and it farted! He loved it. Cute yet manly at the same time.

I have an obsession with stuffed animals.. my future grandkid will have tons of them... I already have a full closet. :bunny:

Cheesy and cute. I say it's OK, and will probably be appreciated, even if in a "it's the thought that counts" way.

+1.

I'd rather get him something he could use, whether we're together or not. It's a gift to him.

p.s. Not a fan of stuffed animals for me, nvm anyone I'm seeing.

I vote cheesy as well. Mind you, my stuffed animal by the name of Little Dog still resides in my parents' attic, where I hope it shall remain for some time. But new stuffed animals? It reminds me of childhood too much, so no.

You know a nice gift for a guy? A simple card with a love note in it. I can't tell you how much I cherish reading those years later. I don't throw those out, either. Into the time capsule with it.

Unless there is some sort of sentimental value, like you won it in a claw machine during a date or something, its kind of cheesy.

Make him something instead. I gave my bf a painting I did and he put it on his wall in his room.

I think it's as cute as hell.

I'd sleep with it.

Ha! Great minds! I'm out of town on a business trip, and just picked up a shot glass for my new guy (he collects them). :) I guess I done good. :bunny:

One can never have too many shot glasses.

They're especially good while on trips since you can get one representative of wherever it is you're visiting.

I was just in Eastern Europe and wanted to bring my BF some vodka...but those damn TSA rules meant I couldn't bring it on the plane.

Instead I ended up giving him some company bling I got from my client in Europe - a baseball cap with the company's logo on it. I was thinking it was super lame gift, a re-gifting of sorts. But my BF LOVED it and has worn it several times already. Go figure.

It's the thought that counts. I'd keep it unless we broke up, but I'd definitely prefer something more practical.

Does anyone else see a dangerous problem here? Or is it just me?

ummm.....yeah. That does look to be a little extreme to me.

I was just going to add that unless you know he's into stuffed animals...don't do it! Also, since you are so early in the relationship...I would think a simple "missed you" would be enough.

I definitely agree with the majority of th eprevious posts!
