I need a really good surgeon, since it's not a matter of straightening the bone, but narrowing the nostrils - requires a very skilled doctor. I asked hubby to make a gift to me, but he said he didn't want to help me get prettier for another guy. This is not about guys; they will like me equally with my current nose (how funny that sounds! ). It's about me. Just like we color our hair, put make-up, and dress nicely, because we care about our appearance, I want a new nose. I've had a nose job before, but it was a part of a health surgery and nothing really changed. It doesn't hurt and the whole discomfort is equal to a 5-day bad flu. I am totally prepared for this, I just need to find a good plastic surgeon. I also wanna fix my belly, I have some bad stretch marks after my twins played house in it for nine months. :bunny: This reminded me... my kids told me that I have an ugly belly button long time ago. I told them that I used to have a beautiful tight tummy and now it's gone because of THEM. They never told me anything again, but they did ask me if I regret having them, cuz they ruined my belly. I would NOT do anything about your nose during a time like this. You should NEVER do these procedures when you are going through any emotional situation. (although that's when most women do) You only want the nostrils done? I don't know if they charge less for that or not but that's a lot less work for them to do than moving bone. I've been thinking about this for a long time. It's not even a self-esteem thing, it's just a beauty treatment. After all, feeling like new after a breakup (new hair, new clothes, new condo, new nose...) certainly feels better than looking at old pictures in your old pajamas with a bunch of tissues... for your old nose that looks like a red bell pepper from so much crying. I've heard it from hair stylists and I've seen it in women that I know. I know I've read about it on forums as well. I don't remember if I saw it on any links but I'll check. I have never heard of women going to plastic surgery more after a break-up... Yep, I was told that by those working in the offices. I went to a PS's office that also had a spa (I went there for the spa). I went there numerous times and the stories that I heard....... The (oh now you're going to make me try to spell it.....the profession that does cosmetic work such as laser hair removal, permanent makeup, etc....) Anyway, she would tell me how after a divorce women come in and get boob jobs, face lifts, permanent makeup, etc..... She was a hoot! She even told me about an older guy who was on the personals site that I was on who would always bring in his current girlfriend for a boob job. Everytime he got a new girlfriend....he was back in there again. I said "Hey...give me his name!" Link to post Share on other sites

I have always cherished my female 'frienships' a lot more than any of my male friends... My 'best friends' come right after my children... I would NEVER hurt them.. A different hairstyle, make-up, or even changing the decoration of the bedroom is common.... but I am not so sure about cosmetic surgeries... a lot of women are afraid or went they find themselves single, they don't have the money to go through those expensive procedures. If you want the end or tip of your nose narrowed, as far as I know, they still have to go up through the nose and file down bone/cartilage, etc. to attain the desired result. I interviewed with 4 different surgeons (make sure they are licensed PLASTIC surgeons!!!). The lowest quote I got (this was for straightening the nose which to the experienced eye was a little crooked) was $3800. Mine ended up costing $12,800 by an Asian doctor in Beverly Hills I can give you a referral for (prob. costs more today). It was very subtle, nobody straight out could tell but would say I looked 'different' or better. Almost all nose jobs are obvious unless you go to the best ones out there so it's one place you don't want to skimp on costs for. If I were to get any plastic surgery today, I'd go to my electrolysist plastic surgeon who works on celebrities - does work that is not obvious but costs a lot so basically it depends on what your budget is because there are a lot of them who will do it for a small fee but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. BUT, its such an integral part of the face ! I ALSO have big eyes, wide mouth and other dramatic features so I always felt like I would look like a fish with a teeny tiny WASP nose. You've seen those types in hollywood where their nose, just doesn't fit the rest of their face. Personally I can spot most nose jobs a mile away. I've seen your pics ( pretty !) and I don't think slightly narrower nostrils will change anything that much. I can totally undertstand the desire to " hotten" up, after a divorce, but thats seems a bit much, why not start with a hair color change and new wardrobe or something ? The nose is such a focal point of our face...some change is bound to make you look very different, no? I'm still struggling with whether I'd actually go through with a NJ. My ex wouldn't hear of it. He said he would be there for me if I absolutely had to do it, but he wouldn't support the decision. My bf thinks my nose is "just fine". I am still sitting on the fence with this one. I think our guys just don't want us to turn our noses up at them. I just want it smaller, narrower, sharper, cuter. Touche, it's not a nostril job, it's a nose job, but I was saying that it's a delicate precedure (what I want to do). If they have to do something with the bone too, they're welcome to. I never thought that much could be done, but when I saw what they did to Tyra Banks, I was like "Wow!" Of course, my nose is not as wide as her used to be, which is in my favor. $12k doesn't sound too much. I thought it would be at least $20k. To me it's worth every penny. Plus the belly, let's say it's gonna be $15k total. I would get a small nose and a flat, tight belly. Yum! Call me shallow, but these things mean a lot to me. The nose is the first thing you see every morning. I am still sitting on the fence with this one. Do it. You have nothing to lose, you'll just look nicer. Don't be influenced by your BF, just listen to yourself, if you really don't like your nose. The precedure is easy, not painful at all. Tonsil surgery was a nightmare compared to this one. (I don't even want to mention the C-section). If you decide to do it, don't be scared one bit. I'll go there completely relaxed cuz I know what it's like. Link to post Share on other sites

In fact, he refused to give me what I wanted. I wanted one of those cute upturned noses. He said no, it wouldn't fit my face and that i didn't have the bone and cartilige for it. Find one who WON'T give you whatever you want. It's important to find one that will tell you "no" if necessary. I never had any nostril work done. He told me that I had excellent nostrils. It's so funny the things you find out about yourself from a PS. Like who would have ever thought that their nostrils were one of their good features? According to him, I also had a neckline that women would kill for. Huh? How could anyone see my neck, I figured, behind this big ol' nose? A friend of mine like how natural mine turned out so she went and got one from the same PS--she DID get nostril work done on hers. My recommendation would be to go to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor who is also a Facial Plastic Surgeon because they are concerned with the structure of your nose and not just the outside appearance of the nose. Those who are in the field of Plastic Surgery ONLY are too often just out for the bucks and run things like a factory, in my opinion. Link to post Share on other sites

I'm afraid I can't help you with the north-east coast part. If you're interested, I'll try to find a link I used to know about on a forum where you can talk in depth about this and where you can ask if anyone on there recommends any PS in your area. Most likely they will and plenty of women on there post before and after pictures of themselves. As for recovery process.....I don't handle anesthesia well, but that has nothing to do with PS. Because of the anesthesia, I can't say that my recovery process went too well. Other than that, you're normally out the next day and I didn't have any problems. Link to post Share on other sites
