My ex actually said almost these exact words to me. And for the record, it doesn't make it any easier to let him go. I realize he isn't coming back. He started a new relationship almost instantaneously. But I still love him. I can't imagine not having his friendship in my future. And I might always hold on to the hope that one day he will mature and want me back. I have a lot to prove and he is not the type to believe that people can ever change. I am planning to move to a new city for a fresh start. I believe that we will be in contact. It won't be frequent contact. Right now it is impossible to be friends because of my feelings and the fact that I see him and his new girlfriend at least every few days because they work in the same place as me.
