What to get him for his birthday? (Canada Post Friendly lol)

My Boyfriend's birthday is in a month, we'll both have exams around the date, so I won't get to see him just before or just after, nor the day of.

 

I'm trying to think of some sort of creative birthday present since I can't be there..(semi-LDR). initially wanted to go to a basketball game, but schedule doesn't permit that to happen.

 

I'll be sending it in the mail.. I was thinking a shirt... but wanted to also add something special/sentimental or thoughtful, since I can't actually be there.

 

Any ideas?

A friend of mine is good at thinking of things like these. One year for Valentine's she went to one of those photo machines with some paper and coloured pens, and did one picture holding a piece of paper which said "happy" and another "birthday" - maybe you could do something similar but saying sorry you can't be there and you'll make it up to him.... perhaps you could make a "voucher" for a birthday massage or meal or something, and send it to him so that he can redeem it the next time he sees you.... something like that doesn't cost anything and it doesn't cost a lot to mail, but I think those kinds of things show how much thought you put into it and how much you care

Where I come from we have a christmas tradition. Special calendars are given to children at the first of Dezember, they have 24 doors and each door is filled with a chocolate figurine. So, the children get one piece of chocolate everyday and count the days till christmas comes. You could do something similar, for the days until you see each other again, counting from his birthday. Or to his birthday.

Make small envelopes with pictures of you two, poems, maybe some sweets he would like etc. That's nice, but it a lot of work. If you do not have the time, why no get a good picture of the two of you together, frame it and send it to him with a nice letter.

Or...make a video of yourself, but don't speak. Hold up cards saying "I love you", "I miss you", "Happy birthday" etc. Like in the music video. Put it on a CD, or even better, make it the bonus on a CD you do for him, with his favourite songs, or songs you heard together, that tell something you both experienced etc.

I also like "nevermind"'s idea of the picture album or something sort of sentimental.. I wanted to send something like that with the shirt.. but we don't have too many pics together...some, but not really enough to make an album (he has most of our pics already)... Does anyone have any other similar ideas.. or ideas of something I can make..you know? Something out of the ordinary that he might really like. I don't want to get too mushy u know, so guys.. if you have any suggestions...they would be appreciated.
