According to diet-i.com, you are within average range. For 5 foot tall, you should weight between 97-128 lbs.

This is my first post. I'm 5'0 116 lbs am I over-weight? or what is my ideal weight?

This is somewhat tricky to judge. You could be naturally more muscular than the typical woman...or you could be slender with a small frame. I also don't know your age.

I'd say a typical woman, age 18-35, would be ok at about 110lbs....plus or minus 5 for genetic variation. So, I would say you are doing alright. I would also say you shouldn't be INCREASING your bodyweight, other than muscular weight. You are certainly not underweight.

128lbs?

That's not average and healthy. That's highly muscular or simply overfat.

Hey, I haven't read all the responses, but here's mine.

I am 5'0 flat and I weigh 120. You are NOT overweight!

It all depends on body shape and structure. Short people are not necessarily waif thin and bony.

I wear a siz 5, so I know I'm not overweight!

Ryan brought up a good point, and that is size of one's frame. A person can have a really tiny frame at 5 foot tall, and not carry 120 lbs. very well. On the other hand, some women at 5 foot tall can have an average frame, be about 120 lbs. and look very slender.

Personally, I am 5'3' and about 123 lbs. By all means, I am far from wafish, but I have a average, boney frame...my ribs are visible, the bones in my hands and wrists are very prominent, and my knees and elbows look buldging. The more I exercise and build muscles, I start seeing my skeleton even more, but remain the same weight. Am I too skinny? Not the least bit "skinny"...just very "boney" because my frame is average.

Melissa honey, it doesn't sound like you're overweight at all. I'm sure you're just perfect. Love your body and don't worry about it! Above all, don't ever let anyone else tell you how you "should" look. All that matters is how you feel and whether you're healthy. That height and weight sounds perfect to me.

This is not a meaningful response. It's more of a self-reassurance. Who are you trying to convince...her or you?

I wear a siz 5, so I know I'm not overweight!

Once again, not a meaningful response. Being a size 5 does not make you healthy or unhealthy. I don't believe you are overweight. I also believe you don't have much room to move on the upper end. Don't let 5 extra pounds slip in there.

On the other hand, some women at 5 foot tall can have an average frame, be about 120 lbs. and look very slender.

A woman with an average frame and build being 5 feet even and 120 pounds is not going to look *VERY* slender. She will look average (oddly enough).

Becuase as a dancer myself, I know how that is....I am '5'5 and weigh about 145, with a great deal of muscle

That would make you about the same weight (if not more) as male dancers you work with....so you must be SERIOUSLY muscular. At the bodyfat a regular dancer would have with that weight, you would be borderline female bodybuilder in appearance. I'm JUST a tad skeptical.
